if you are starting with the built in akai os, than no, neither have it. it is only available for the 2500 and 4000. However if you get the jj os I believe that is one of the features.

what is 'chop shop'? cause it doesnt mention that specifically in jj's manual.
in another thread the poster (i think), referred to 'chop shop' as being the ability to slice a loop into samples and put it into a program. my akai os does do this and everyone keeps saying it doesnt.
is chop shop something different because i cant seem to find anything to the contrary and id like to clear it up.

yea but mine does that now. on the akai os. and people keep telling the poster that it doesnt.

out of the box they are not the same. mine has the new pads, theirs doesnt. they also would have an older OS as mine is brand new and comes with 2.11. so no they arent the same.
MPCfreak. my black one with OS 2.11 DOES chop samples and arrange them into a program (puts on pads). i know v 2.10 does this too. i dont know if the old os does but as far as im aware you can upgrade the akai os to the newest free of charge. and if you cannot, you can get the jjOS cause its a great system and youll get this feature anyhow. so either way you cannot go wrong. you'll just have the bad pads on the blue one and have to factor in the cost but it should still come in less than a new one.
