Minimizing Swing...

I understand I may put myself at the mercy of you vets, but is there any way to work beyond the 50% - 75% swing value parameters on the MPC?

I've gone through both the original OS's manual and the new JJ OS's manual, and I can't find mention of it anywhere.

I want some of my tracks to sound literally club tight, and even 50% doesn't necessarily give you that. I want the track to sound damn near robotic.

Any pointers? Thanks in advance.

50% is no swing whatsoever - thats as low as it gets. - and even club tracks will have some kind of swing or timing quirkiness - with no swing tracks will get very boring very quickly...

If you want to be "club tight" bad enough (and hey, who doesn't wanna be "club tight" oohh) then maybe you should take some recordings that you consider "club tight" and stick 'em in some DAW and measure out to the sequencer tick so you can find that magic "club tight" timing formula. Let us know what you find out.

try this, if you want your hh to be more fluid and i guess club tigh set you swing at about 52% now when you are holding tap tempo play around with the note buttons at the bottom of you screen hope this makes sense

I'm an idiot, 50% does exactly what I want it to do, I must've misread something when I was sequencing the track.

See, I think the opposite. I feel like people abuse swing more often nowadays trying to make their tracks feel looser, but the shit sounds damn ridiculous half the time.

In a lot of instances, I agree, rigid tracks can get bland. But I love a lot of dance music, so I'm a sucker for that mechanic rhythm.

And when I say "club tight", I don't mean "as good as club music", I mean "as tightly sequenced". I don't know if that was clear to the dude with the jokes.

And what the dude with the jokes was asking was, compared to what? If you hear some difference with the thing set to zero swing, what are you hearing?
