nuh uh I still want my novelty type II card.
None of the big retail sites I looked at -- including tigerdirect and newegg -- make any specification on the cards they sell as to the type. Newegg does have an obviously out of date CF help section that says the large capacity ("up to 12Gb") cards are type II but they have a 16Gb that looks from the photo to be type I (or maybe a microdrive?) This is why I wondered if it's a dead standard, just like they stopped making giant-sized floppy disks because the smaller ones held the same amount anyway.
Oh why did I have to listen to that Akai rep tell me which flash to get... I coulda just walked to the store and got a type 1 like everybody else but now I'll never be able to find the "right" flash for the MPC again! :->
