Anybody ever sample musical notes & was able 2 play chords?

I was thinking about getting this piano record and wanted to know if I were to sample piano notes, assigned each note to a pad while putting the program on poly and played the different notes simoutaneously would that give me that sound as if I were playing chords on a real piano or am i just over thinking this?

I do it all the time. My motif has a piano that sounds all beat up. I sample it and then do basically what you describe. Layer in the sample of record crackle and PRESTO!
