MPC 1000 upgrades

hey im a novice and need some knowledge. im curious about how to completely max out my 1000. what will the 128 MB upgrade get me compared to the 80 GB hard-drive, or will they get me two different things. Basically i want the most recording time and sampling time. also like to know if anyone knows the max recording time that could be accomplished with upgrades and what those times would be. anybody have any advice. may need to help me get my terms straight as well.

ram and HD.....2 seperate things. You want more sample time get ram. You want to be able to store beats and libraries get an hd. You wanna save 15% get geico

For now, if you have a cpu with apmle memory space, then first get some RAM for your MPC.... The RAM will boost your sampling time and that is a very important, you will find the lack of RAM to be very limiting. The good thing about RAM these days is that it is ery inexpensive for what it will mean to you... I got a 256 for $17 +sh from Ebay and it has worked out extremely well for me.

**B4 you ask, the 256 RAM will only show up as 128mb of RAM when installed in the MPC, it only uses half of what is installed (I don't understand why, but this is a fact)......

THE HD is for saving seq/prog/song/etc..... It is just like a hard drive on your CPU and a permanent/bigger version of the CF card. Maxing out the HD memory is not as important as having what you need. There is no need for 120gig hd if you only have 20gigs of info to save.... I went with 60gigs because the price was right, but I doubt I will ever come close to filling it up. You can only use so much at once. 20gigs is better than none, and for a beginner such as me, it would be fine for the first year or so... as you gain exp with what your sounds will be, you will be able to fine tune what you need on hand at all times.... So far I have only heard of peeps going as high as 120gigs for HD space...... There is a sticky on info for this as well......
