Will an 8 GB CF card work in an MPC 1000?

Hey folks,
I know the specs say the limit on CF cards is 2GB, I'm wondering if there's any way around that.
Will the JJ OS allow larger cards or is 2GB the absolute limit?
Lastly, I know that type I & II cards both work, but is there any point in getting a faster card or should I just go for what ever is cheapest?

mpc uses FAT16 system.

maximum mis 2gb - thats it.

i have heard of people using microdrives that are like 5gb and shyt, but i have no personal expierience with them.

There is a way around it.......


I posted a link in the sticky on this subject to ST1 CF cards.... The max size that the store in the link has at the moment is 6GB, but they carry 8GB very often... I have a 5gb ST1 card and it works wonderfully abd the price was only 15.99.... I am using JJOS 3.08 and it has been working realy well for me for 2 weeks nowe...

As far as speed is concerned, that is totally up to you... But remember, the more you load, the longer it will take.


I rarely use my MPC to connect, I have a card reader that I use, that way it is a bit faster, so if that is a future option for yu, the speed may be something to pay attention to.


But this one os totally a preference thing... None of us will eva use your CF card, so our opinions are kinda useless.......

Current MPC operating systems do not use FAT16. Akai V1, yeah -- but not post V2. If they did you wouldn't be able to format hard drives larger than 2 gigs either (which was all you could get out of a hard drive if you formatted with V1). A number of forum members have been able to successfully use both CF and Microdrives much larger than 2gigs regardless of what it says in any Akai documentation.
