My MPC 1000 acts crazy when I hit certain pads.

Specifically 15, 11, and 12

It switches to Bank C and stops plackback/recording.

I sent my 1000 back to Akai about a year and a half ago (it was about 13 months old at the time, just barely past the warranty period) for the same problem and it came back and worked for about 9 months. Cost me $150.

It's been collecting dust for 6 months now, but I recently started thinking that if I upgraded to the new pads (from MPCstuff.com) it might fix my problem, but I'm not certain.

The problem really only seems to happen when I hit certain pads, but I don't wanna spend $180 for nuthin. What do yall think? Will this fix my prob or should I just keep truckin with Logic (I'd really like to have my MP fixed anyway dammit!) Anybody else had the SAME problem?

What should I do?

I would look at the internals to see if there's something nearby those pads that's causing a short circuit. Make sure all the screws are snug and if any metal parts look like they're too close and might be touching when they shouldn't, stick some bits of electrician's tape between them.

It's possible that new pads might help, especially if you have the old flimsy type.

I do have the old shitty pads.
