Real interesting sidenote I came upon yesterday. Probably should be in a different thread but oh well.
I dunno if yall are aware of how the .mid files exported by the MPC look, but basically they contain multiple tracks of midi data, one for each track on the MPC. They also contain an additional track labeled MPC1000 or something along those lines. It seems in the past I've had troubles dealing with this MPC track causing disturbances in recording MIDI to Cubase, etc.
Anyhow, I was transfering a beat I did on the MPC to my cellphone as a ringtone. The 1k is great for this because the pads are easily mappable to standard GM drum tones, and the 1k will tell you what GM tone it'll be mapped to. Sweet. So for drums, just assign your tracks to channel 10A and assign the appropriate samples to the appropriate note numbers in Program mode on the Note page, I gues it's called.
So back to the topic at hand:
The program I have for exporting .mids to my celly (a Sanyo 8100) is called FutureDial something or other, cost me like 30 bucks with the transfer cable included. (USB to celly power jack) In the program there's an option for trimming .mid files so if you download .mids from the net or whatever you can just play your favorite part of the song as your ringtone. Kinda like finding a break hehe. Anyway, it lets you demo the mid before transferring it to the phone.
This program apparently reads the MPC1000 MIDI track data and knows how to find the exact samples you programmed on the MPC. So essentially this program plays back the .mid file from the MPC EXACTLY AS IT WOULD SOUND ON THE MPC. (I'm loading the .mid from the same folder on the CF card where I store the programs in use, etc) I've tried altering drum sounds, etc. The weirdest **** thing, I've never heard of it before. I'll post more when I discover more, only spent a few minutes with it yesterday.
Anybody have any input on this subject?
