My only point was, it's awesome to be able to have so many sounds on a palate, that you can shade using EQ or filters all in one box. Lay down a piano line, BAM, Switch to horns, BAM access drums, no not that drum, I need a sharper attack, trim, attack, Bang, add some synth samples. No pause in the creative process. My great grandfather was a composer, if he could see/hear this machine... the possibilities would blow his mind.

I feel ya bro. That's why I kept this topic open. It's good to see more positive stuff written about the MPC (as well as some of us adding a bit of comedy in the mix).
To me it's better to read how a machine inspires people, as opposed to reading how people are quick to give up on themselves and blame Akai for their lack of creativity.

I've had my gripes with Akai in the past, but certain issues got resolved like the pad fix (which was an idea pushed forward here by me, Nick at VST, and everyone else who responded to the "Proposal For A New Pad design" topic (which Nick encouraged me to create).
When we all come together constructively to persuade a company like Akai (within good reasoning), it's more than likely that they will do the right thing.
The Akai OS still has many bugs. But the good thing is that they never prevented JJ from releasing his own OS, which works to everyone's advantage.

Many thanks to everyone who have put forth the effort to make the 1000 a better machine than it was 4 years ago. That would include everyone who have reported bugs to Akai, JJ, everyone who supported the pad proposal, those who have provided tips & tricks, workarounds, software (MPC Program Creator, BlueBox, Pad 187), as well as those who have reported the successful use of 3rd party RAM, working CF cards & hard drives, repair methods, places to find tact switches on the cheap... the list goes on.
We have all accomplished a great deal with this community, thanks to Tutor who made it possible in the first place.

Keep it bangin'!!!! 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

Hardly Dude. I got no affiliation w/ Akai. Just love my Beat Box. (You'll see why soon enough) I'm an expressive cat, and pretty much type whatever the hell I feel. And I don't really appreciate having my opinion trivialized.
