If you got any hardware synths or soft synths, then the 1000 will do the job well.
But if not, and you really want an all-in-one machine without the need for other synths, then I'd recommend the 5000, as it has a built-in synth which would be more usefull for trance than any other MPC.
Try both models out wherever they're being sold, and get a feel for what's right for you.
In my opinion, working with an MPC has always been more fun than sequencing on a computer.... and I've been producing techno & house with MPCs since the 2000 came out back in '97.
