I was wondering about wether the 1k would be able to take a 512mb ram stick(256 each side) or even more. Does anyone know much about this and/or any reasons why this might not be possible. Just got me thinking coz i've heard in the past that it can support a cf card of up to 2gb, but i'm using one thats 8gb and it works fine, so thought a ram upgrade might be a possibilty too. Man, 256mb to play with would be very nice....

good spirited question but unfortunately 128 mb is the limit due to internals
i use 20+ mb inst programs and large chopped samples. during the course of the making of a song, i haven't hit the limit yet - while LOADING samples, yes, i have reached the limit, but most the time in my beats the end product uses about 30 mb worth of samples. that includes all drums, chops and multisamples

128mb is a limit, but only becomes a REAL big limit during a live show environment

If you hit the limit, try to resample at twice the original (12 seminotes up) speed, then pitch the new sample down to half the speed (12 seminotes down) and you've got more space PLUS oldskool 22 Khz samples ;-).

thanks fellas,
yeah, i only really hit the limit occasionally and that can be worked around, just thought coz a 512 stick is pretty cheap it was worth asking. :)
