muse receptor with mpc1000 - midi issue

hello

i've got an akai mpc1000 and a muse receptor (hardware module that plays vst) and would like to do the following

keyboard - midi out - midi in - receptor - midi out - midi in - akai mpc1000 - speakers

but i've set it up but no sound comes out of the receptor via midi - when i connect the speakers to the receptor it works fine.

can someone kindly point me in the right direction here ? ive looked at the manual and tried connecting it all up but no success, i even tried changing the midi settings on the mpc 1000 to omniab so thought i'd get all the data sent

MIDI connections
keyboard MIDI out to receptor MIDI in, receptor MIDI thru to MPC1000 MIDI in

Audio connections
Receptor audio out to mixer/audio interface audio in + MPC1000 audio out to mixer/audio interface audio in + mixer/audio interface audio out to speakers.

MIDI is note information not sound.
