Buttons remapped?

hey guys I'm a relatively new user with a used mpc which has worked fine for the past few months, however in the past few days I've run into some trouble. THe arrow buttons and the rec, over dub, stop and play buttons alll trigger different buttons. Like when I press the up arrow the undo light comes on.

Could this be from overheating or a moisture problem? I really have no idea. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

It doesn't sound to good. I shure dont hope that it's overheating problems. You can see on the printboard if there's some moist traces. You can buy a special electronic cleaner spray in your local toolshop.

I agree with the cleaning part of it. Any piece of electronic equipment can start acting erratic when exposed to moisture and dust (like from being in the basement studio or something like that..)

It's just like the faders on a mixer that has been exposed to moisture and dust... when you raise the faders, this crackling noise comes out of the speakers... but if you turn the volume down and vigorously run the fader up and down again and again in an effort to break up the accumalated dust and dirt.... that sound goes away and it works fine again...

My suggestion is: disassemble your MPC1K using the videos from Youtube on how to upgrade your pads. Those videos will show you what screws to take out in which order. And just clean everything with a cotton cloth damped with Fantastik or something like that.

I do this to all my equipment from my MPC to my Laptop to my mixer and keyboard.... or anything that I physically play or use. It keeps them running great! And like new. And I don't think overheating could be the cause... because I have my MPC running for up to 14 hours on any given weekend when we pull all nighters!!!

one more thing.....

If cleaning it doesn't work... you can always try re-installing the operating system.....

I like to disassemble my stuff though, I feel it gives me a chance to get to know my gear on a more personal and "intamate" level.... LOL.. I know, I know... I need to get out more... I'll work on that!
