Pad Sensitivity Question

I've only had my 1000 for about 3 weeks, but I recently noticed that I have to bang some of the pads extremely hard just to get the sound even close to full level. Is this common? What can I do? Thanks in advance.

Press "full level" and all the samples will play at maximum volume automatically.

yeah there were alot of threads on here about that for a while. The pads do break in more after you beat on them long enough. Is you OS the most recent? The full level thing works dependant on what your doing, but keep using the pads that give you the most trouble and maybe they will loosen up faster- good luck keep bangin

Yes I have the newest OS...I have been using the full level feature, that is how I knew the pads were not sensitive enough...I just didn't know if I purchased a bunk unit...thanks for the replies

you can also record using full level then edit the velocity in step edit mode to get around that issue

what about the mode + Option then hit f4 (I think its f4, its a hidden screen). This screen allows you to adjust the sensitivity of the pads. Mine were all about -5 from the factory, so i adjusted them all to -1.

Hell yeah ...that did it...mine were all set to 9 and I changed them to 16...I also boosted the master volume because I have thought the headphone output was too low since I got the unit...do you have any idea what the velocity curve does? Thanks again.

I would expect that the velocity curve indicates how much the velocity changes with each increase in pad touch intensity so if you've got a gradual curve then a soft touch will be little velo. a medium touch = med. velo., and lots of in-betweens...

I experienced the same thing when I first got my MPC 1000. I had to crank the sensitivity to max to get any sound out of the pads. Then, I started noticing that the bottom four pads were getting louder! That's because those were the pads I hit the most. So I started hitting all the pads and now, a few months later, they all are broken in and I'm needing to turn down the sensitivity
