I don't think it would change the resistance enough to make a difference. You can use a mulitimeter and check the ohm load to be sure.

I would just find a source of the circuit board personally. If it is 12 volts, uses resistors if you need to, it depends on how you wire. I wire in parallel when doing things like this because it makes problems easier to diagnose but in series, you may want a higher voltage source and may not need resistors, depending on the voltage an amount of led's you use (if wired in series).
