Question I Need To Ask Before Buying a Hard Drive

Ok I bought the MPC 1000 about 2 weeks ago and last week my lil cousin came over and ended up touchig my MPC and breaking the memory card reader slot... . I looked everywhere online for a replacement part and I found out that the same piece costs 125$ to get. I decided instead to spend an extra 25$ to get an 80GB hard drive.

Now my question is if I install the hard drive and then connect the MPC to my laptop via USB will my laptop see the MPC as an external hard drive so that I can dump all my sounds into it easily? Also I'd like to know if I'd ever need to use the CF cards again if I have a HDD?

I'm also planning on upgrading my RAM to 128MB is that a good decision?

Yeah, he's being nice cuz dude is brand new. I just did the same a few minutes ago with another newbie. Gotta at least warn them right?
