ok so heres the thing, im pretty new to the akai mpc 1000, im not new to the world of electronic and virtual synths and samplers since i use them every day but i hardly know anything about the akai mpc 1000 besides some very basic functions.

here in lies my problem,

i need to use the mpc 1000 to cue samples for my band, all samples are wav format and just about 1000 kb in size except for one sample, the intro to our set, it weighs in at a nice 9.4 mb.
my akai is telling me i only have 9.4 mb wave free space when i turn it on with auto load off..so there obviously isnt enough room for the main intro sample and then the other 5 or so samples..

so from what ive figured out from this forum is that i need to upgrade my ram.. i already read the posts on ram recomendations and know what size and brand i need but heres my problem... once i get ahold of it...

I HAVE NO **** IDEA HOW TO INSTALL IT!!!

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME OUT HERE, I NEED TO GET THIS DONE BEFORE JAN 03 OF 2009 BECAUSE WE HAVE A SHOW THAT NIGHT.

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME AND TELL ME HOW TO INSTAL MORE RAM INTO MY MPC 1000?

thank you. get back to me as soon as possible!

there is a panel on the bottom of the unit with two screws. take the panel off. it just snaps right in. a hamster could do it.

akai has a 128mb stick, and i have also seen ram on ebay for cheap. just type in mpc 1000 ram on ebay. I know akai's is a lot more expensive than ebay's. my mpc came with the upgrade so i can't vouch for the 29.00 ebay ram.

don't forget to ground yourself by touching a metal when installing the ram. dont forget to check out the mpc ram forum on the top of the page.

Be CAREFUL buy the ram off of ebay. I bought some ram for my mpc it was like 29.00 and like 5-10 to ship it. Well they sent me MV ram and would NOT take it back and send the right RAM to me. Yes the Akai RAM is alot more BUT after going throw what I did its not worth it at all. So I thought about it Why would you buy a MAC and but a off brand RAM in it? You got a AKAI MPC why not use AKAI RAM? Its 179 at your Guitar Center.

Again check the RAM thread on top of the forum page for compatibility. I got a third party RAM for $12.95 with shipping. Anything over $20 bucks is a rip off. Shop around ebay and avoid anything with the name AKAI. Make sure you buy from a RAM dealer because I bought one from a non dealer and got a dead ram in the mail (poorly package). The ram can easily be shocked if you don't properly package it and handle it.
