sampling on the 1000

im not sure where to post this, but can anyone direct me to a thread or topic or any kind of info on effective sampling.

right now im doing a lot of ineffective sampling, i can never make the sample in a sequence properly, usually the sample isn't long enough, or just a fraction too long. timestretching may help, but i think the biggest problem im having is finding, hearing the right samples. long loops? short bangers? backround sounds? busy or independent sounds? what?

any help is appreaciated.

I was having the same problem, I think i have it kinda worked out now tho.

I used to use Fruityloops and just recently upgraded to the 1k. It was easy when I was donig everything on the computer. I could handle samles nicely together and have everything in one place.

What I do now is Ill find a loop I like, load it to my MPC....work on it....then search for more samples. When im searching for new samples Ill continue looping what I have im my 1k.

Also, to asnwer your question about looping, Have you tried using Trim mode on your MPC? Timestretch would be nice tho. Akai needs to put this in a OS upgrade.

you just have to start working with tempos and finding the right tempo of a sample and then find how many beats or bars it is. then fit it in a song with the right tempo... it takes much much practice... just count 1-2-3-4 along with a beat and tap the tempo into the mpc and voila! you have the tempo, sorry, i'm rushing this but i'm typing fast.
