MPC 1000 Hard Drive installation issues

[size=150]Hi folks I am new to the forum and I have an issue which I hope someone can help me resolve.
Today I installed the HDm-10 and 80 gig seagate hardrive into my MPC 1000. The machine recognized the drive the 1st time I turned it on. However I turned off the machine and came back to it later and it would not go pass the start up screen. I removed the hard drive and it worked just fine, Has anyone encountered this problem before if so Can you suggest what might be the problem and how can I resolve it?.

maybe try reformatting the drive? that is described in the manual give it a shot.

Once the disk is connected the MPC would not start, so I cannot even get to the format screen.
