Sample Chops Still Aint Matching up

I been trying my hardest at this sample choppin and I was wondering do I got to make sure the sample is looped perfect before I chop it. and do I have to know the tempo (bpm) of the sample or can I just pick a tempo myself and work the sample around that .

no you don't need the tempo
but yes make sure that it loops perfectly
try this with a 4 bar loop...loop it right...then chop 8 or 16 times...and then play around with the chops and your allset

It doesn't have to loop to chop it. It has to loop to do the Boon Doc auto 16 chop.
I take samples that are sometimes 4 bars and 2 beats, or 3 beats, or 1 bar 2 beats....
Then you chop. And sometimes your samples won't match up because you have to flip them and time stretch them better to fit to the groove, but you can pick any tempo you want as long as you can get them to fit how you want.

Sometimes the samples time isn't right on. Just zoom in on every chop and adjust to to the kicks ,hats ,snares or notes if theres no drums..................

i think he's asking how to make sure the sample is trimmed so that it loops perfectly, e.g. exactly 4 bars or exactly one bar or....

you know?

just set the tempo in the MPC to the same BPM as your sample. set the sample to loop forward and play it to the metronome. if after awhile the sample seems late, then you need to shorten it. if it hits early, then it is too short. if you dont know the BPM of your sample, or if you just can't get it right, then turn the metronome off. Just play the sample on loop and adjust the start/end points until it sounds natural.

when it seems like i do it like that it still seems off I must not have it adjusted dead on

i meant to tell everyone that im using the JJ v308 so my when i zoom up it still not making my start and end points go to one digit intervals they still jumping bout 10 20 spots.

Afrter years ,I'm still usin the same free v jj 3.08............You have to zoom in ,not up....My machines not infront of me but I think F3 zooms in and F2 zooms out.

Did I just explan how to zoomn in on a sample.........

yea its the f2 f3 buttons but when i zoom in my intervals for the end and start point still does the major jumps i just want to move like 13657 to 13659 but it does bigger jumps

you need to zoom way in. keep hitting the zoom button like 6-7 times

Yea hit zoom once deff don't kut it.................I all so hit the up cursor after I zoom to make shure I'm not choppin off any lil tails...........
