Pad Exchange Idea

Now that the pad upgrade is out, i know alot of you probably just have a set of pads laying around. Since they are on back order everywhere, plus, some people like me don't necessarily use there mpc standalone, these old pads could be put to good use.


I was thinking for those who upgraded and have some lying around if you would be willing to part with them for shipping costs or some cash.


I'm not looking just for me, i could just PM people and get it done. I will admitt that getting some cheap replacements is a motive though. I was just thinking that many other could benifit as well. We all know that usually only a few pads go bad quickly while others stay fine for long periods of time. I think alot of people are like me who have 2 bum pads and don't really want to pay almost $200 for 16 new ones, better or not. If i bought a pad set that had say 8 good pads, i would have no problem taking the 2 i need then sending the others to someone else who needs them. I figure if alot of people are down, we can bring alot of mpc's back to where they should be (for awhile).


If there is interest here, i guess just post up what you got or what you need. If you are replacing them, put an X in sharpie or something on the bum ones or the people who get the old ones can just check for themselves.

i will be in redwood city, california by the end of the week. i'm currently in Laramie, wyoming, driving cross country day by day.

i just bought ES-K's mpc1000, and i'm gonna mod the hell out of it. as a result i won't need the pads. i wouldn't mind parting with them at all

That's not a fun drive, i've done it 3x's. Unfortunatly, i have panic attacks and have trouble driving that far. I may be able to have somebody closer help me out, i'll PM you in that case. I definitely appricate it and if i can work it out, i'll make sure the pads i don't need go to a nice home.

Thanks again, hopefully i can work this out. This is exactly the thing that i'm hoping can happen for everyone who has a bum pad or two who doesn't want to throw down $180 quite yet.

I can chip in. I'll thow in my old pads which are all perfect. No issues what so ever. I'm just an idiot for upgrades. I have the upgrade and the black pads... I have the gray pad if anyone needs that. (Gray=same as black pad but came with the update)

I just ordered the upgrade a few weeks ago. They're on back order, but once I get them I'd be more than willing to send my old pads to someone in need. I got my 1k off of ebay and had to replace the pads right away. Almost as soon as I bought them, Akai came out with the improved pads. What I'm trying to say is: The pads that I have are still in perfect working order. I bought the new ones because I know what will happen to the ones I already have.

HIPHOPPA! I may just need those grey pads! I heard that all of the newer pads are going to be made black. This may not be true, but I would definately rather have grey pads. I ordered from MPCSTUFF so hopefully I'll find out soon enough.

Anyone who wants my older pads can just send me a PM.

Trust me. If you have the old pads, they will go bad. Akai didn't release a "pad fix" if there was nothing wrong with the original pads.

Lol, i have 2 that have almost no sensitivity, 1 that doesn't work. It's not from me but they went bad, i'm just trying to help both me, and others who want a cheap solution as people are litteraly throwing these away.

nicebeats - i didn't mean to come across so harsh, this is obviously a sore subject.

wudsiba - i am trying (failing) to eat honey as it spills everywhere. this was my first real meal after my summer job, which was fantastic - but i ate every day at this horrible dining hall at the university of virginia. underbudgeted and unhealthy, i ate nothing but salad and rice/beans for six weeks straight.

It's a well known and documented fact that the single pad's system's are deffective. If your pad's work now that's great.
Everyone's pad's worked at one point in time. Mine took about four year's of punishment. But like I've said in previous post ,I know people that had there 2k for over a decade and there pad's still work just fine.

Don't take it so to heart, You pad's aren't a direct reflection of you.

Anyone interested in donating. I feel like an dick just asking but i will send anything sent to me to other members, i'd even have a stash of pads i'll test if other people are interested. If not, cool, i know it's free, i understand, just wondering. I figure this can help alot of people without "hurting" the people who upgraded and never care to go back.
