Entire sample wont record, only part of it

Sometimes when I try an add a new sample to a beat im making it will only record the start of the sample and not the whole thing. this only happens sometimes and i have it set the same way every time. The mute groups are all off and all of the pads are set to poly and not mono. anyone ever had this issue come up before?

are the samples that r getting cut,longer than the ones that are fine?

yes, they are longer. I'll have a couple samples that are real short like the length of a kick drum, snare, high hat etc. etc. but go to add a bass line that lasts a few more seconds or piano melody and it will cut out after a couple seconds. Not all the time though.

or delete the mute events from the sequence

when you go to sample,make sure you turn ur sampling time up...

im tellin you,i had the same thing,,,,,when u hit "load record" ur screen comes up to sample...look in the middle,you will see a time..00.00.10.sec....somethin like that...turn that beast up!!!!scroll to it with cursor and then turn the jog..

Cool. I'll check it out when I'm back in the lab. Thanks for the help. The last info almost sounded like you were describing how to record the sample into the machine for the first time. I'm talking about when I'm trying to put a sample I've already recorded into the sequence. The sample is recorded in full and assigned to a pad but when i try to record the sample on to a track in the sequence it cuts out. Sorry if this is redundant. Just sounded like we were talking about two different things for a second.

yeah i love it. but i AM superior to you. i dont have to wonder why my mpc doesnt work. thats because it works! its not a big brain twister as far as im concerned.

i did mis-understand ur question,,now im stumped...not sure why it would do that..my suggestion would be to check all the values of the sample thats getting cut..

take a look at your voice monitor. mode > pad 10. if your sounds are stereo, they can quickly take up all 32 voices and when they go beyond that limit, other voices get cut. its not always constant like it would seem.

The only options showen when I press mode pad 10 are; global, misc., footsw., and pad. I don't see a voice monitor.

Its right there at the global tab. right below master level. It shows 1-32 (cuz the mpc has a max polyphony of 32 voices.) I have had similar experiences with longer samples not playing out. Havent had these issues since a few JJOS versions ago. Rich could be correct cuz if you layer many sounds, that polyphony can max out quickly.
