Custom Flight Case - Natural Wood MPC100

I have been building custom flight cases for my gear for a few years now and recently finished a case for the MPC 1000.

I am posting to get some feedback on the "M1 Flight Case" and see if anyone would be interested in purchasing it... Hypothetically, that is. Basically, I really enjoy building these flight cases and take pride in my work. To the best of my knowledge, there isn't much available in the flight case market, in a natural/vintage look at a decent price. So what I am hoping to offer is a strong, compact/tight fit/custom fit, vintage/natural wood flight case that is damn good looking.

What would you guys pay for something like this?

I would greatly appreciate your feedback. I'm just a small time musician, artist and builder, looking to make an honest living by selling an honest product to the honest man.

I like the looks of it but could you make the metal sides connect?

For a Prototype I can say it is a good look. A more refined look would def make a big difference. The interior shot are prob more important to most though.


Also since you asked for feedback. If you designed it to be functional while the MPC was still in the case would be outstanding as well.. Like the case for the IDJ2. You leave the unit in the box, but some of the walls come out exposing all the connections and the front plate as well. When the MPC in in it being used, the angle of the case makes the use of the MPC screen ezier to view because the MPC is angled.

ALL I can say is I want one! I'd pay about 20-30 for that

Looks nice a couple of questions?

Will the corners connect? If not I can’t see there being much structural integrity. In fact one drop with the MPC inside of it and it will most likely break. Also what surface to the rivets touch on the opposite side? Are there plates of some type or bare wood? If they are bare wood I would think you run the risk of pretty substantial damage from the case hitting the floor (especially on a corner). Not trying to tear your design apart, in fact I like the look of it a lot I am just wondering how it would hold up. Can it take a hit? I have used ATA cases and they are pricey but for a good reason. If you have $1000+ worth of gear being shipped what do you want or should I say expect to see when it arrives. The ATA cases and be abused and for the most part they will just scuff up. You can stand on them laying flat and the box and gear will be fine. With only ¼” of material I am wondering what would happen if say the case is dropped flat on the floor and there is a solid object on the floor…will the wood hold up? All in all I really like the look but I would view this as a storage case and not a flight case. Just my 2 pennies

it seems to be goodartwork, i miss round! corner protections as the mpc is in contact with other gear, not to damage
these, the wood looks great but i would prefere aluminium for the case to be more compact,and the top
detachable, the whole thing as light as it could be.

there's a video of how the top removes. more to come when i finish the one i am working on, later this week. my air compressor failed and i am waiting on new diggs, to continue production

It looks interesting enough though, you wouldnt make one for the 500?

looks dope. but the siding looks weird, maybe get a darker chrome or copper or something, also connecting it like someone else said would be nice...

If you acheive what I said I think $100 would definately be feasable to a lot of people

as for connecting the edging...
typically with flight cases builders use edging where the wood fits into the metal edge. this may not give you an image of how it works, but i opt not to use this method because 1. the edge options available aren't very aesthetically pleasing and 2. they make for bigger exterior volume/overall case size with lesser interior volume. also they are expensive for someone like me, who is building on a--more or less--case by case/custom basis. the edging comes in something like 10ft long pieces, so unless i am buying in bulk, shipping gets absurdly expensive.

i suppose i can add "corner braces" upon request. they are metal corners that fit over the edging, so that the corners are rounded/aren't exposed. the options available aren't very good looking as they are all very big... they end up dominating the final product and take away from whatever cool/vintage feel the case has. and really, they provide very little additional structure support. they are mostly added to give bigger cases a finished look. this works for big and industrial and boring looking cases, but not so much for a smaller and more unique case like the m10.

i have a few people who are interested in the case, so i have the first few builds lined up. as i execute the next few versions of the case, i am sure it will adapt and improve beyond--what i consider--its improvements upon what is currently available to the average consumer. as the next two builds take shape, i will photo or video document some of the process to display more of why the case is made the way it is made. i have some corner braces that i ordered for the first build(that i never used), so i can plop them into place to display what it would look like.
