Proper way turning off mpc1000

Is there a proper way to turn off the MPC like a shut down.
or you just press the button on the back.
Why I'm asking this is because it seems dangerous to just turn it off from the back.

I always make sure I saved everything and the sequencer isn't playing when I turn it off.(think that's not even necesary) Shouldn't be a prob. to turn it off anytime.

Yeah, just hit the button. If it read system files or something from the hard drive, then I would think a shutdown process would be needed. Or if it were running Windows...

an mpc running on windows...

can you imagine what it does to your workflow..

always best to return to main screen before shutting down, as returning to main screen saves settings

Why would they put a switch there then?

Just make sure your not in the save load screen, I agree with illiterati....I usually make sure im on the main page before shutting down.

Just yank the power cord from the back of the unit.

or

Just chew on the power cord until it shuts off.

Just like everybody else says I make sure it's on the main screen! Then I chew on the cord until it eventually shuts off!

Is this one of those "how do you make a peanut butter sandwich" types of questions... where the answer requires further and further refinements of the process until nobody cares what the 'answer' is anymore?

Only reason i was asking the question was because it would of been better if there was a shut down option on the O.S. that could turn it off, instead of just pressing the switch.
so it could prevent from data problems and stuff.

i understand where your comming from...kinda in the sense that the mpc could respond like a computer?...rather then just holding the power button down on a computer till it switches off....click shut down and it will do it without damaging or losing information...

is that what you meant for the MPC method to possibly be?
