Windows cannot read song that was sent from the mpc1000!

really? it's supposed to play in windows media player...

wait, a sequence is supposed to play in media player? You probably have to resample first.

like elmacaco said, if its just a sequence, which is only a midi file for the mpcs, theres no way it would play... you'd have to convert the song into a single sequence, then resample it (if you have the extra RAM) and then upload it.

You are going to have to find a way to get the SOUND routed to your PC so you can actually record the sound coming out of your MPC into the PC. You then have to save the recording either as a WAV file or MP3.

All the files in the MPC ar proprietary. All the song file does is it has the information that tells the MPC in which order to play sequences.

You are going to have to record the sounds coming out the outputs. The MPC does not work like how you are trying to get it to work.

If you have the EXM128 Ram and you have the space, you can convert the song into a sequence and re-sample the whole sequence. Make sure your master volume is set to at least -6db or else the re-sample is going to sound too low. This will basically put your sequence into WAV format which you then can import into your PC to play with WMP. You are going to need EXM 128 to do this, because you will need enough available recording time to record that whole song.

i cosign what ONE is saying, except he is saying you need the EXM128 ram to have enough available recording time to resample...dont get confused here, just listen : you can get a stick of pc-133, 256 meg of ram (thats notebook memory) and get away with having 128 megs of ram loaded into your mpc1000....check on here for this , but it saves you from spending the exhorbitant amount of money to pay for the EXM128 ram from akai...

Tru...just as long as you get 128 worth of RAM it doesn't matter whether it's exm128 or Notebook RAM, or what have you. It doesn't matter that you get 128 megs of working RAM in the 1000. Just as long as you have enough for sample time left over for a whole song. You might be able to do that with 64 megs, but not with 16. I haven't tried this method myself, but I heard that it preserves the MPC's punchiness.

If you have a mixer all you need to do is hook up the MPC to the mixer and hook up your mixer (or any audio reciever) to your PC, which is cheaper than buying any RAM. Or you may be able to get some cables that will hook up your MPC directly to your PC's soundcard.

Assuming it's the sequence data you want to edit and not just record the sound...did you save the sequence as a MIDI file instead of SEQ (which can only be read by the MPC)?

Dude...get yourself some recording software: CoolEdit, or something. Plug the outs of your MPC to the ins of your sound card. Press record on the soft, press play on the MPC. That's not the best method but you can start with that. IT's an MPC that you bought, not a plug'n play mp3 player.
