INSTALL NEW RAM 256MB PC133 - Failed error?? HELP please

Hi there,

I just bought my 2nd MPC1000 and am trying to upgrade the RAM to 256MB (128MB Max side yes i know it reads one side only).

I got the RAM off Ebay via this online Demo - the exact model - PC 133 144PIN CL3 SODIMM 256MB

I installed it all correctly when i turn on i got this message?
MPC1000 BootBlock Ver:1.03
Boot on SODIUM memory check mode
Total memory size: 128MBytes
Check memory.........
pass 1 : failed(88000000)
The problem was found in the the memory
please check the memory.
system halt......

Anyone had this problem? what do i do now??? peace

hey man, the ram only goes in 1 way(with a correct fit) and if not in right the mpc will only read 16mb still

since it read the ram and found problem, then ram is in right but something not right with it.

depending on how much you paid, you might want to ship back for refund.

so you think its faulty?

i even tried it on my other mpc that has JJ0S1 and it didnt work either:( yep faulty surely.

yeah, not really much fiddling to do with a ram stick,,, and on two different machines


try cleaning the contacts on the ram with rubbing alcohol to makes sure no dirt is messing up the contacts

make sure is completely dry before putting back in mpc

if that don't work, replace it by that link

Good advice... also make sure there isn't any dust or gunk in the RAM slot.

its definitely the RAM as my 2nd MPC is practically brand new and so is the Ram just got a faulty one:( cheers again!

Just bought this noname memory from this Ebay from exactly the same trader EveryUpgrade for my MPC1000 Black / JJ OS 4.99 :

But it failed after boot screen than showed "125MB" installed for few seconds only



than i am getting this ... message...




Tried reinstalling this memory , restarting multiple times.. it only gets worse

Is this problem with the memory or my Balck MPC1000?

Shall i try to buy another memory upgrade... or it has no use.. something in MPC prevents it from work? I am desperate and sad - was sooo much lookin forward to have a beefed up MPC sampling time
What shall i do next?

If the seller's offering to send a new one for free then get that.

Just make sure you tell him that if the second one fails that you'll want a full refund.

If you have a mate with a 1K then test it out in theirs... if the RAM works, then you have a bigger problem.

well ... dont have any MPC friends .... yet
donno if the Ebay seller will refund the second one ...
i paid 12 euros for that one ... came from US.
cannot even read the brand or specs on the chip... the text is microscopical ... wierd?

I ordered my memory from the same seller about 2 days ago then I went to my local shop and bought one there that works flawlessly so far. I havent recieved the the one I ordered on ebay. I will try to see if it works on my mp. Also I live close to were the seller is located if it does not work I will ask if I can show up to his store to test out the ram so that its not shipped back.

I just recieved it about an hour ago.It came inside a sealed plastic bag wich is probably not origianl package. I will try it out when I get home if it does not work I will email the seller. The envelope has a physical address so I'm hoping that it's a store. At my local shop the memory cost me about 10.50 I will go see if they have more and if I can get a discount if I buy more than 1 let me know if you want one.

BTW the name on the memory card is EveryUpgrade just like you said.
