128MB RAM for $40!

I copped this at CompUSA on Friday with a $35 rebate...I would have let everyone know but I wanted to install it and make sure it worked before I started running my mouth. Well it worked, and although they don't have the rebates available right now keep checking, I'm sure that within a month they will have a similar deal. Sorry I didn't let everyone know sooner...peace.

Rebate Expired on the 19th, Its still a good deal at 74 bucks.

does it matter which update you are using? I have 1.03 and it failed test 4 or 5....

it's not 256...it's 128 like akai says to get

whats the difference???? the ones you guys list that work are 256....

I got 128 with the same specs and it gives me 64MB of RAM. I tried one diferent chip before I got the PNY, and it also failed the test. When I inserted the PNY, it didn;t even bother to run the tests on it. So your problem is not the OS version or the size of the ram, you just got a chip that is not complatible.

i have the PNY 128. So i take it must be the chip itself. Im going to take it back to compusa and try the 256. when it ran the test it said it was running it for 64 mb. I also read somewhere in the forum that the mpc only reads half of the memory in the 1st place.

The guy said to bring it in the store and just try different ones to see if it works. Someboby else had the same issue a week or so ago. SO who know what the real problem is...

Yes it only reads half the stick so every one using the 256 chip, the MPC is reading 128

yea...thanks...i already took it back and got the 256...
it booted right up and didnt even go thru a test.
I only checked it by seeing how much sample time it would use....once it keep going i was like **kool** finally it feels more like a machine than a toy. i'll be up all night tonight.....

akai should have an option to buy with or without...but it is really a no brainer when you get down to it.

***but on the flip side, having less memory made me think more and get to know my machine more...

I just Bought a Centon Laptop Pc133 256mb Ram for 50$
My mpc didnt even do a ram test, i just turned it on and it said 128Mb Installed. and went straight to the main menu. It works like a charm its so much better then the 16mb the up grade is a must.
