At long last, a new PGM editor for the PC is here!

Announcing BlueBox, a new way to create PGM files. It features:

- editing all values inside a PGM file, including layers, mixer settings, sliders, etc.
- applying a pad setting to all or certain other pads in one step
- assigning a sample across multiple pads, automatically adjusting MIDI note and tune values
- slick user interface
- obtains updates and bug fixes from the web
- and more

Check it out at http://home.grandecom.net/~gdereese/akai.html

Cool, man. Are you planning on doing frequent updates to it? Just some little things I noticed:

1. It doesn't autoplay the file before you actually open it the way the other program does. That would be a great timesaver if you could add that funtion.

2. It would be really cool if you could hear the different filters, sliders, etc as you are changing them. Is that possible?

3. Even though the GUI is far better looking than the other program, it gets choppy (at least on my computer) when you scroll up and down.

All in all, the positives far outweigh the negatives, and with the addition of a few things, this thing would beat the hell out of the program on mpc1000.com. Great job man, keep us posted!

Thanks alot for the good feedback :)

Good suggestion; I will look into adding this feature in a future update.

It is possible, but would involve quite a bit of work to imitate the filters, envelopes, etc and apply that to the sample sound. I'm not planning on that at this time, however I would be open to exploring it if there was a larger demand for such a feature.

3. The GUI is just a little choppy.

I've noticed this on some slower machines; the vertical scrolling of the panels on the right side get a little messy when redrawing. I've done my best to reduce this artifact, but I'll definitely keep this in mind.

Thanks again for everyone's kind words!

yea i dont mind the choppy gui you say on slower machines but mines pretty damn fast and it still chops.. no matter i really could care less about that. the only thing really is the auto play. this interface already kills mpc1000's and ive laterd that program already. good work:D keep that shizz up!

Hi I'm new in this forum but i want to make my compliments to the autor and ask for a possible future compatibility whith the other mpc, or also a Sourceforge project if you don't plan to seel it would be a helpful thing to increase the performance and also the development of the softl, I think.
good work man.

man this program is very very nicely built! that scrolling glitch is not that bad and that auto play feature people mentioned would be nice.

Here are other suggestions:

1. You can change the dark blue to light blue transition coloring on the bars. Its hard to see the black text over it. Just keep it all light blue i guess?

2. Add a favorites folder feature when you browse for samples. For instance you can save a favorites folder and instead of navigating to that folder all the time , you can just pull down the menu of your save folders and go directly to your samples.

Your the man! 8)

one thing i noticed that may need a fix is the filters parameter. i was making a program and adujusting fitlers 1 and 2 and when i switced from one filter to another the lil sliders didnt move till i clicked the#2 filter switch. its nothing major it was just mind boggling for a split second as to why the sliders wouldnt move. other than that this shites tight

I'll take this into consideration for a future update. Sounds good. I'm glad you like it :)
