that's one of the features missing on 1k, as well as timestrech and zoning.
 while you backup your beats on the comp, open up cool edit and reverse it.
20 seconds max.

Still a pain tho, and moving bak and fro to a computer just kills my creativity, even with a CF card reader. Especially if reversing it sounds whack any way.

It's a shame we still have to use the computer to perform a task an older machine(2000xl) can perform.

It's also a shame that we have an attention span that kills our creativity if we can't get things done in 20 seconds or less.

Sucks to live 15 years ago, huh? How did anybody get anything done? Music must have sucked back then.

That's what I was thinking. Talk about short attention spans.

that is true. But the mpc 1000 came out in 2004, not 1984. It is supposed to be the updated new digital/portable mpc unit. How can they just leave out simple ass features like time stretch and sample reverse.

It is frustrating, you have to admit that at least

damn. that is a biatch. its so freakin easy to do on the triton sampler too. remind me again why i bought this thing. i dont even have a computer right now. who knew i was gonna have to dig that deep in my research for purchase. oh well. sucks for me.

The truth of that matter is, these days it the things which allow you to do the most thing quickly and simply that will win. Thats why ableton live was recieve so well. When i'm making a track i've got loads of idea floating around in my head, some good mostly average and few wack ones. The point is if i dont get those average and wack ones down before i get too carried away and forget i may never hear the good ones.
Also people used to take agggggeees to make music.

Albeton Live, I have Heard of it, what do you recommend it compared to others, form your point of view?

Well basically Reasons always a good place to start. With a GB(gigabyte) of high quality (damn near perfect to be honest) soundbanks you cant go wrong. Actually i'm pretty sure you make just about anything from it. If your into live performance and DJ-ing (or just like using a lot of VST's)Ableton live is a safe bet.
[i've actually saved loops from reason and imported then for production in ableton live -its work flow is VERY good (loop based)]
For sample editing (like i need to say...) Acid makes it simple, Soundforge makes it professional and cool edit makes it interesting and functional (there are a lot of FX). Personally I prefer Acid for timestretching, Soundforge reducing bit rates and cool edit for reversing and general fx.

For mixing and mastering (and generally improving your sound) Waves Diamond Bundle is the key. Lots of useful fx such as maxxbass (for spreading the bass in a track to higher frequencies to allow it to sound good on crap systems, very time and headache saving), a very good compressor and reverb and all sorts of dopplers and creative stuff

I havent included and vst stuff coz thats all very personal and down to the individual, but i guess the proteus x is gonna b good for any hip hop heads.

in Acid 5 you can reverse a sample w/ the push of a button. Spread out your sample, and push u, and your done. jus thought I 'd throw that out there

By elmacaco Fri Apr 15, 2005 5:11 pm
the sp303 will reverse a sample in real time, as well as real time timestretch and pitchshift.

Pretty much kills most other samplers in that respect.
