no track velocity?!

hey guys,
i'm new here, so please don't kill me if this was discussed earlier. i did a search and found nothing..

i bought a mpc 1k 5 days ago because my old 2000xl couldn't load more than 256 samples, even if it had some memory left. i need more than 256 samples live, so i finaly decided to switch. whatever.

after 2 days of program-reprogramming und midi to sequence converting i had all my stuff from the old mpc on my new one. of course i need to get used to some new features and stuff, but it seems to be a very nice choice.

the sequences seemed to be okay, too, all samples are at the right place now...

...BUT where the **** is the track velocity?!? i just can't believe that akai didn't add this feature to their new mpc! i mean, EVERYONE who uses an mpc needs to change the track velocity, correct me if i'm wrong.
i use the same samples in some sequences so i cant just adjust the volume of the sample to fit it into the first one, because it wouldn't sound right in the second one.

and i'm not gonna change every single note in all my tracks and sequences manually.

please tell my that i'm blind & stupid and the track velocity is actually there...

Man what do you need 256 samples loaded at once? That's ill...
Are you loading 20 different songs at once?

unfortunately, there isn't a "TRACK VELOCITY" on the 1000. you have to adjust the velocity/volume of each pad.

congrats on your purchase. i hope by the 1000 not having track velocity doesn't make you think you made a bad decision on getting it.

Sounds ridiculus, but I l "autoload" ALL of my favorite sounds (and more) at startup, and that way I can work more quickly when I am programming (no loading times, QUICK PREVIEW WITHIN BEATS).

No track velocity bummed me out too, that's one of the reasons I didn't get one, I was so poised to get one for traveling and such.

But ncan't you go into edit, select velocity and have all the notes on a track have the velocity subtracted or added or multiplied or divided by a certain number? the 60 lets you do this and Im sure the other MPC's do but few get so deep. It's a bunch more button presses and no excuse for a track velocity parameter being missing. It is one of the most used features on an mpc, who does akai listen too? the beat tips guy who only needs one track?.

i really hope akai will put this track velocity into a newer os-version. its ok to create new tracks without it, if you know that you don't have this feature anymore. but converting all my old sequences because the volume of each track is messed up suck bad!!

well, i need all these samples for live performing.. i dont want to stop the show to delete, purge and reload new samples. and sometimes the first and the last track use the same bassdrum, so i couldnt delete this program. i just needed this mpc 1000.

a.k.a. for me, project MAIN has a hammond organ, a plucky synth, some arabic drums, and some other crap.

if i load another project it automatically clears all the crap i loaded before

Did yall hear me? You should be able to modify the track velocity under editing options. SUre noit as easy as having it right there, but it must be possible to alter the velocity of all notes at once on a track with + - x and / functions.

Every MPC has it I think.

elmacaco, do you have an mpc1000, too?
ithis menu differs fro the old 2kxl menu, there are no velocity-change options in the 'edit sequence' menu anymore. only copy, move and transpose. the rest is gone.

track velocity!! rah i never even knew my XL had that. and i have been fine for years.

sure, if you make 1 track = 1 project, then you are fine.

but if you make 1 project = 1 liveset, then it is a bit more akward, because if you reuse your programs and pads for different sequences, then if you change the volume of one pad, it changes for all the track which uses this pad. :/

i am not sure if i will try: not to reuse the same pad twice for 2 different sequences, or if i will just modify the velocity for each note manually when needed... probably a mixture of both.

if a clever cat has a good workaround, i would be glad to hear that.

the work around is not to change the volumes on the programs but to change them in the sequence. each trigger in the sequence has a volume settting exclusive for that one occurence.
