The search function will give you all the info you need.

first, don't limit yourself to three genres of music to sample form. those three are great sources but so is classical, blues, funk, kids records, etc..
1.) yes
2.) i know you said your 16 and you probably at the age where you aint tryin to read the manual but if you dedicated to makin bangers, reading the manual all the way thru would be a wise decision. also like d.t. said the search function will do you wonders. hint: inputs on back

oh and to answer the original ?. practice and dedication sprinkled with a lil talent = sick beats, not an MPC 1k + vinyl.

but to answer your question, yes what you have will do what you want. you just have to learn it in and out. your lucky too, i'm still saving for my mpc (i use reason). but you shouldn't have alot of problems the mpc is easy to use imo. if you got any more questions pm me, and i see can i help you out.

You wanna know the quickest and most painless way to read the manual, 7? Take it to the bathroom with you when you take a shit. For real. You get the most focus that way. One week of takin that manual to the john with me and I had read it cover to cover. And ya don't have to read from start to finish. Hit the index and jump to the subject you wanna learn. You tryin to figure out how to hook up your decks to the MPC1K? Hit the index - boom you know it.

yo man, it doesnt matter what you have, if you wanna truley be didecated to music and making music, you need to eat sleep and drink it....i barely turned 18 less than a month ago, but to be honest your going to question yourself to this music stuff and your going to doubt yourself, all you gotta do is think about music 24/7 and learn about music and all types of styles and stuff....i made alot of sacrafices, i mean their would be times where i would ignore my girl and my crew who wanted me to paint and bomb the streets i would rather be making beats.....i didnt take showers for days at a time and i didnt buy new cloths.....im still rockin year old adidas and still wearing 3 jeans a week for almost a year now.....you might call me crazy but when i look at all the records i got it makes me wonder how much money i put into this to give it up....i got music to last me a life time but i still pick up a leon haywood for a dollor even though i have it already becasue i know i can give it to someone else who wants to do what i am doing.........I dont paint with my crew anymore or spend time and money with my girl but when they are out the door i still got my graffiti flicks and with the flick of my wrist i can make some of this hip hop sheit.....

If I ever buy used gear from you guys, remind me to wear rubber gloves when I pick up the manual...
