Now don't flip out, i watched sparq's video and i did a search...however, i'm still wondering about this...i got oxygen 8 keyboard and reason..i wanna do exactly what sparq did in that video, record stuff from reason to my mpc. I did everything as he did (pretty easy, since we have the exact same setup) but i can't get my mpc to play anything..

when i hit "step edit" i can see that the mpc has received the info, my notes are where they should be. However, nothing is coming out of my speakers. It's like the mpc isn't triggering reason. Now i'm pretty new with this midi-stuff, i've been just sampling and bangin out beats on my mpc for a while now, so please, bear with me. Could my soundcard be the issue? I have an Audiotrak Maya44usb that i use with my laptop. It does NOT have a MIDI-port. Then again, the oxygen 8 does so i figured it sends the midi data back and forth with the usb..but i'm not sure.

Laugh at me if you want :D coz i really don't know what the problem is. Help would be appreciated. And like i said, i've triple checked all the connections and i did everything EXACTLY the way sparq did. So, anyone...help a brother out?

do you have a mixer? because you will need some way of making reason heard on your speakers too. if you're sound card has enough inputs, you could use that to monitor your mpc with, as well as reason.

describe the connections you've made in detail.

sorry, i should've listed my setup i suppose..anyways, yes i do have a mixer. I am also able to control reason with my oxygen without a problem.
The only problem, apparently, is the fact that when i press "play start" after recording, nothing from reason is being played back..

I have a midi cable going from oxygen 8 midi out to mpc's midi in. Do i need something else for this?

do you also have a midi cable going from one of the mpc's midi outs to reason? via your soundcard/midi interface?

well, like i said in my first post, my audiocard does NOT have a midi-port. So, no i don't. This is the problem, right? So, in order to get that "reason as a sound module" thing to work, i need an audio-interface with midi-inputs and outputs?

yes that's right, you need the mpc to send midi signals to your laptop so that reason will play the notes you've recorded into the mpc from the oxygen. so therefore you'll need some form of midi interface for your laptop.

hope this helps

i'm going to redo the video but i should have explained my midi connections a little bit more in the video. the midi connections that i have is the midi cable coming out of the oxygen 8 going to the midi in on the mpc (keyboard control, to control the mpc only) midi cable coming [/b]out[/b] of the mpc to the in on my interface (to send midi info from the mpc to reason).

so yes, you need at least 2 midi cables in this setup. since your audio interface is does not have midi, then i would suggest getting something small like the m-audio uno. then you'll be good to go.

hit me back if you need additional help.

Okay, now I understand. Thanks a lot modnar and sparq. I checked that m-audio uno thing, looks perfect. It's not that expensive and it will solve my problem --> perfection :D

Thanks again!

Yeah it will, but if you get this one don't forget to buy midi cables (if you don't have them).
Plus you should check at you're local store, they may have even cheaper midi interfaces.

i got cables, so that's not a problem. And the store that i'm going to sells those for 36.95 euros, which is not that bad...i suppose.

kool to hear that! i'm looking forward to it...sampling is cool and everything, but it'll be a nice change to actually compose something totally original and blend it together with samples
