Chopping Samples Stereo/Mono?

Do I have a choice? Whenever i chop a sample up, when it is a stereo sample/loop the chops will end up being mono, is there a way to keep samples in stereo?

If you chop in the mpc, it will be mono. You will have to chop outside the mpc to keep something stereo. From what i have read, it doesn't even combine the stereo track to mono, just takes the left channel.

i always sample stereo files in 2 mono samples. that way i can repan it later, or just saw em in and out. it's great.

Is that how 1k works? seems like a big drawback

You can chop using EXTRACT - this keeps it in stereo, but doesn't give you the nice timestretch decay you get in SLICE mode. I seem to remember Recycle had the same mono restriction when it first came out

again, sample both sides of your stereo field in mono and use them separately. more work = more control = more variance in your sample.

agreed, but its all about choices. if youre forced to do that, its nothing more than a workaround. some people might just want to simply sample in stereo.

yeaaaah i know. just seems like a copout to me, esp when the workaround yields more interesting results.

it's no big deal. i bet it will be fixed in the next os anyway.

yea and also you dont get the ready made programs, i like to save time, but i hate that decay i turn it off.

i dont get it, if you have a stereo source coming in, why would it only sample the left source?

To chop = Something. To sample = Something else.

People are talking about the Slice function in the Trim mode, not sampling in Record mode.
