Official MPC1000 pad fix this summer!

I have a friend who is working on the MPC3500 for Akai, she also worked on the Alesis Micron. Its gonna be a heavy machine with lots of hard disk recording, fx, filters and more, almost too much going on she says!

But alas, the DA converters probably wont be great and thats what I dont like about the sound of MPCs post 3000.

She also informed me that there is already a pad fix for the 1000 ready, but wont be released until summer. Faulkers!

Oh well, I hope Nym's fix is ready before that because I dont want to give AKAI any more of my money.

that'd be great if akai released this pad upgrade, but everyone was like: 'hmmm.....nah, you're ok thanks' and turned their backs.

this sounds great...but given akai's track record...I aint gonna be holding my breath.
ive had it with the pad problems on my 1k over the last week...its been into surgery 3 times in the last couple of nights...and still no better...
Im gonna go buy an mpd for the mean time...but if there is no official fix by the summer...i think im gonna have to sell-up and buy a 2000.
shame...i was savin for a mpc60 to go along side the 1k.

Sorry to interrupt, but what is the estimated time the pads usually wear out?

Is there an approximate cycle limit the pads just stop working?

There's no evidence of any of the original poster's claims being true.

i will. i admit it's a little disheartening and frustrating, but then again i cannot wait until the summer regardless of whether or not it's true.

if akai releases interlink electronic pads they'd most likely have to release all of the following:

new rubber pads (they wouldn't keep the old)
new IE sensor board (again, no need for the old)
new pcb (IE sensors need a different setup than 8 in AD converters)
new pad frame (to make room for the new stuff)

unless they strike some mega deal with INTERLINK (minimum order 60,000) this is going to be VERY expensive for akai to build, and even more expensive for us to buy.

I hear ya. But you got my support 100%.

If Akai really does come correct with a new design, I wouldn't spend more than the $105 that it currently costs for a full set of their original defects. If they do us right and keep it at a fair price (which is the least they can do for the headaches we got), I'll support them as well.
Until then, I'm skeptical.

so does this mean I could be in the middle of a production and the pad has a high probability of going out on me? is this true for the Black model as well, I just bought it on the 8th of Feb this month.

I mean how many hours can I work on it before the pads die on me?

hey nym, like i said before, i got money set aside for you. **** akai. nah its not that bad, but really, if they didnt do it right the first time...
