Slanted Mpc

I know myself and atleast one more member of this site have that problem. Anybody call Akai about this yet? I was supposed to do it but I've been busy. Maybe tonight. Also, when my Mpc is on, the record light kinda glows. Is that normal?



The Rs

i have now used about 5 and they all have this slight red showing...but its very low in colour...until you press 'rec' then it really glows.

so dont worry...its normal across the board.

i own 2 mpc 1000's right now.

you only need one MPC in a studio setup...especially when you have a full DAW setup, etc.

Am i going crazy here?? Your seeing which one of the same product is better than the other? What are you looking for in 1 that the other wont have?

doesnt seem TOO strange bravo. people do it with mics (the small diaphragm oktava mics and sm57's come to mind), at least, all the time

ive done it myself with a guitar (compare 2 to see which one is more messed up)

BRAVO: MPCs (like all the other electronic devices) all come from a assembly line, but the parts used in the process might have small defects.
Those defects can make the difference, but it takes a very good ear to notice the diference.

I know people who are buying mic's that way, but newer heard of anyone doing it with the MPCs. COOL

Mics is one thing but MPC 1000's x 2 is another. Im not knocking you for it, I was just a little intrigued.

So hows it going then?? Does one fly? Im just playing

Be interested to know what your comparing...Are you looking for scratches and uneven pads etc

I'm guessin' he's probably checking to see if one set trips more then the other, in which case if one keeps crashing and one doesn't he doesn't have to wait for someone to fix it to keep workin' on his music, he can just send the bad one back for a refund. Also if he ended up with two "bad" machines it be safe to assume that the 1000 wasn't up to par and he could just go another route. It's a "baller" move, if you can afford it play on playa!

but i don't care.

but its really the assurance that i have at least one solid unit out of the 2.

like i said earlier they are both excellent.

they sit right on the desk...no uneveness.

the pads are crafted well on both units.

all the jacks are tight.

the screens on both (and ones i have tried on demo units as well) are the only things that annoy me as they seem to have some kind of extemely faint stains in certain areas, but very un-noticible.

the screens are made from 'Plexi' glass (found on Rolands, tritons and other worksations) so this is bound to be a problem. the screen has two layers and the slight visable flaws remain between the plexi plates.

however Akai could have ensured that the screens are crystal clear...its down to good quality control at the end of the day. also a screen protection cover would have been great for the whole perception thing of it being 'Brand new'.

never mind.

however i have no problems with deciding out of the two...they are both fine.

Mine is as well. I put a bit of poster putty under one of the feet. Fine.

I've had my Mpc 1000 since mid-december, but I haven't had any time to mess around with it because I'm studyin' right now. I've never made a beat and this is my first piece of hardware. Anyway, it doesn't seem right for Akai to release somethin' like this. This thing cost me near $1000 and I can't even get it to sit even? Come'on! I'm sure I'll have lot's of fun with it in the future, but that kinda irk's me.
