well ive made my dicision: after weeks of digging in the mind of menbers in these forums and a whole eight hour day at gc ive chose the mpc 4000. The 1000 thousand would have been nice but i needed the synth style sample playing of the 4000. instead of buying keyboards and soft synth\samplers to fill the void.but i tell u one thing that mpc 1000 is small beast. the 2000xl will fade out cause i garuantee you akai has some pans for that 1000 (hard drive slot on inside) with the upcomming os upgrades 2000xl owners are gonna be mad. and if i get my hand on another 900. im still gonna get that 1000 for starting ideas on the road and taking to the 4000 for completion
so all you guys b-e-z. and thaks for everything especially roopish,richard,mpc3000,mpc-tutor thanks for letting me pick your brains

you made a good choice.

the 1000 and te 4000 are definately the way to go.

the 1000 for beats and the 4000 for synth / midi work.

or just the one of them.

yeah...the 2000xl definately looks like it fading away...

why???

damn hard to find any decent Storage, No FX as standard, no outs included, the list goes on.

the 1000 rules.

Just wait until the 2500 comes out, with flash card, and 512 memory. Every ones gonna be scrathin their heads.

...with 17 pads..HAHAHA :P

makes no difference.

fact is...

if Akai really wanted to...they would have released a updated version of the 2000xl with the new blue range.

but no...they couldn't do it.

why???

they know its going to phase out.

the 1000 is far far superior for overall features and extras.

also people should note that...new does not always mean better...but i can do also.

however people still swear by the mpc60...and the 3000 is the goddest of all in the Hip Hop market.

people like Dre, Timbo, etc, aint gonna cop the newest MPC out there just coz its new.

you have to also look at the competition...

software plugins are at a whole new level...

eg. a new Emagic Logic Drum Module called 'Ultrabeat'...

practically puts all MPC's to shame for what it can do within the most advanced Audio / midi software sequencer.

so do you really think akai are gonna bring out a new version of an MPC 2xxx range???

i doubt it.

i think whats more likely to happen...is that they will continue to update the bigger version...i.e. mc 4500 or mpc 6000...

and also work towards making thier 1000 line a better overall unit in the future (ie. mpc 1000xl or a mpc1000se)...which already does replace the 2000xl's features in many ways...and will be even better in the future...no doubt.

by doing this akai ensure they have a high end user market base...and a more price concious user market...who still demand high quality features and extras at a lower price.

as for the gap between 4000 & 1000...i think thats where Akai are about to call it quits.

there is no need for 3 mpcs.

if the 1000 line is gonna be better than the 2000xl, then thats what will remain for the under $1000 price bracket.

Im not sure about those comments sir.....Just the other day u were asking about the 2kxl and the things it could do

How is the 1k "more" superior? What is that all about....The use of Flash cards? Hardly....

Well, really, u shoulda got the 4k coz thats 'more' superior than your 1k...Right??

The funny thing is, you make it sound as if us 2kxl owners are saying the 2kxl will be here 4ever.......Its just the laws of technology....We'v seen it with the Akai samples.Even with the original 2k.

If Akai didnt update things and keep up with the times, it would be them that fade out not the 2kxl

Anyway, each to their own....

I think roopesh is fuxing with fruity loops only.... dont get me wrong fruity is not bad but pretening to have mpc(doesnt matter which one) is just gay.
By Roopesh Wed Jan 21, 2004 4:35 am
didnt mean to...

what i meant...sorry again...is that in terms of technological advances...the 1000 has improved.

and i see that you have agreed...

but i did not mean to say that the 2000xl is no good...it too has unique feature like the easy to use 'Shift Timing'...which i miss on the 1000. wish akai include it.

its all about new tech moving forward.

as for my interest in a 2kxl...it still remains on the darker side...as i have no positive feedback on Zip Drives from Arbiter...which leaves me feelin cold spending £679 on a unit that doesnt even have a decent storage as standard...

hope you feel what ime saying...thats all.

sorry though.

i have a full blown mac and Logic Audio Platinum 6 (with all Logic instruments) setup thank you very much...

even the mpc doesnt touch that...not even the 4000...and i'll challenge you to that.

so Fu*k u.

as for you info i do have an MPC.

i have a an MPC 1000.

and ime very happy indeed.

in fact aint you that dick from the Future producers forum asking left right and centre about the which Zip Drive do i need...which one???

i beleive you got blanked also in the FP forums...that you like opened various threads asking newbie questions judt to get '0' replies.

as for Fruityloops... i actually use that as well...and guess what... i love it.

some of the best british drum prgrammers for UK Garage and Drum and Bass swear by it.

it has better timing (than MPC's) due its extremely cheap but rather tight internal sequencer based algorithms.

but hey...why am i wasting my time with a dick like you.

i spelt 'Di*k...and it outputs to richard.

now that is freaky...

but i still ment that word Shyda...coz u are one freakin twit.

Im adult...No tears here

Im just trying to put my point across like you are yours..... I hear what your sayin, I just feel they dont command grounds to make such claims on the basis of storage alone.

If we were to all spend our lives chasing the next best thing, we'd never be satisfied

What you gonna do when the 1k (xl) for instance comes with a 5GB internal hard drive as standard....8 outs as standard....'Step edit' functions..Timestretch......reverse sampling....More filter options...etc (you get the message) you gonna say the same thing about your faded out 1k? Or you gonna acknowledge the advances of technology and relise
'Its Life!'

Im not having a go or anything..........Just sharing my thoughts
