New Pad Upgrade - Sensitivity?

Ok, i just installed my new pads (what a mission) and the sensitivity of them is not that great. I really have to bang them to get full level. Have i done something wrong installing, or is this normal?

are you using JJ OS or the AKAI OS?

I'm using akai 2.11

Is it just that the pad sensors have to be "broken in" or something? Or have i not stuck them down proper... At full level they are fine, but trying to bang out some drums and stuff with subtle level variations etc. is difficult as they dont respond to light taps..

Maybe i just gotta get used to them but I am just wondering if anyone else is experiencing similar issues...

yeah dude, i think it's just a totally different feel. the old ones were really hard
and hitting them accordingly kind of afforded different results.

play with the sensitivity curves in the MODE + OTHER menu someplace...


but i think the new JJOS has even more detailed sensitivity settings - haven't
checked it out yet - literally just installed these puppies!

I just bought my first MPC(1000 of course) and it has the new pads already from the factory. I'm using JJOS and have adjusted all the sensitivity settings I can. I still feel like I have to put A LOT of force into these pads to get the velocity to 127, and I'm not a weak dude. I can't really quantify how many pounds of pressure it takes or anything, but does anyone else have trouble getting these to go up to 127? I know about the full level key, but I'd like to know I can get to 127 if I need to...

since i just posted this in another thread this week..... here's how to adjust your new pads in JJ OS (in words i hope you will understand)...

1) press MODE + [PAD 10]

2) press F4 to go into PAD menu

3) at the top of each pad's meter, there is a number... yours is probably currently set to 16... we want to make that higher on all pads....

4) press the ALL button [F6]... this will select the top number of all pads

5) change it to 20 (maybe a lil more)

6) welcome to JJ OS with new pads

Didn't I already say I adjusted all that? Or did I say it in words you didn't understand?
The pads still feel less responsive to me, way less responsive than on my MPD24.

mpc 1k just doesn't have the best pads.

sorry, it's the truth.

doesn't mean you can't make some banging ass beats w/it, though.

it's not always the machine, as much as it is the user.

make due with what you got, and be patient. you'll get over it.

I'm not whining about it or anything, I'm just trying to figure out if this is normal...

I've never owned one before and wanted to find out from other people if they have the same experience.

yeah man, it's normal..

of course there are alot of 1k users who won't admit this (which i don't get, because it only further implies that there is an actual problem w/the machine) which there isn't. you just get what you're paying for here. i have an mpc 1k with new pads, bought it about three weeks ago..noticed i had to put a generous amount of pressure for them to register from the beggining..same with the older model mpcs..but then think of all the great hits that came out before any of this newer sensor technology was introduced..just my 2 cents

with new pads i crank that sensitivity shyt all the way up to 25 and i can honestly say that i don't have a problem wit it, its all cool wit narkotiq

thanks for the feedback ppls.. but yeah i was mainly just wanting to make sure it wasnt just me wih this problem... I might have to stop being lazy and upgrade to the JJ os, i have totally slept on that. But i honestly think my days with the 1000 are numbered. The build quality just isnt there, th 2500 is calling me..
