Dude, as a user I think u ought to try it for yourself...At least that way you can cross reference the feedback with your own analysis.

Its kind like me sayin does the Mackie 1604 hiss much when u turn the gain all the way up? I haven't turned mine up all the way coz i intend on just listening to music with it only turned up half way

Those are the kinda questions that make peeps on here wanna stone ya

thanx for the advice...

but its not a bad question...

its a question that is asking for ones view on what they think so far. topics like this help others too.

buy now you should know that any thread someone creates regarding one topic, always turns into like 10.

as for the mackie...i never mentioned 'gain'.

i was purley talking about overall output using the stereo channels, with faders at level 'Unitor'.

Oh dear, You've just proved to me that mixers aint your thing (either)

As for your question, Its a nice topic spinner but it seem like a stupid 1 coming from some1 who doesn't even have their own answer as a start point.

Y ask about the quality if u cant even be bothered to try it for yourself.

For instance, some 1 says it crap, loads of hiss and it pops when u sample snares - Is that true?? you gonna take that as gospel ??

Exactly!!!!! See my point

erm...exactly how???

quality, faders, gain are all different.

and so are internal AD converters too.

so where have i prooved anything...i was just stating facts about the two brands of mixers.

Bravo...just ask someone in the stores like DV, but then its like what you said, answer the Question yourself to find out.

i have gone through many mixers, listened to many, etc, etc.

i could be here forever explaining.

nor did i say i was an expert in mixers.

but i know the difference in sound quality...and that added with real world testing proved that the mackie was not as clean.

i trust my self, but to hear the same feedback from a pro sound engineer who has actually aided in the design of the D&B and EAW speakers, and is a fully trained engineer to operate the Midas and Allen & Heath desks, well maybe he's wrong too then.

just to put it to you, i also have a few Dj mixers too.

between me and my bro (who is also a DJ), we have like 3 Numark mixers, a pioneer djm 500, and a Allen & heath xone 62.

and let me tell you the Numark is rubbish.

now, in me saying that does that mean that i too don't know about my mixers.

you need to accept things, good or bad.

i have too.

spent £000's on good or bad.

thats my bad...

but ime still happy.

you only use the gains if you are recording Mic based instruments, or vocals, or really rubbish low level synths like casio's (where output levels are naff)

most people never touch the gains for recording sound modules and keyboards. you shouldnt anyway.

i tend to just use .wav samples from cd's.

How can you make music with those? I mean... this is just like putting together samples that someone else have found, and probably 1000s of other people are using them already. For me the biggest part of making my own beats is finding my own samples, but maybe it's just me.

I suggest you try this, and then at the same time you will notice that the quality of sampling into MPC1000 is very good

See,

this is eactly what i mean Bravo.

from asking what the sampling quality is like...

i get a reply from effekt about why i use sample cds...aaarrrgghhh

completley off tune...

effekt:

i use samples from all sorts of cd's, did i say which makes, brands, etc???

no.

i use my own compliled sample cd's (of my own library), where kicks, snares and claps are layered, fat eq'ed in logic, tuned, de tuned, reverbed, compressed, etc...then saved as .wav files.

anyway back to the original topic plzzzzzzzzzzz.

Analog mackie's don't have ad converters, or DA converters.

Mackies aren't the best by far, but decent for the price.

It was a simple damn question what's wrong with you guys? Is it too hard to answer a simple question and move on!

Have you heard the saying there is no such thing as a stupid question just stupid answers.

IMO the sampling quality of the 1000 is great. It has a nice warm chunky sound when you sample directly off vinyl. However I'm not feeling the quality of re-sampling. It's like dubbing on a weak tape deck. There's definite quality loss there.

And I'm out!

I knew this was a bit off topic....but I have answer your question anyways.

Oooo, and for me "sample cds" means bought cds with sample on them. If you make your own cds, you should specify it. It will then be clear...in my mind at least :)

And your point is? Do u understand gain structure.....Dont u use a mixer to record vocals aswel as live instruments?? do u know what I use my mixer for?? Am I part of the most people u speak of??

U dont know what hiss is do you? how to aid it...what causes it...Id love to see the levels on ur mixer when u get goin..... Im not gonna go into this mate....You either get it or you dont.

Im not trying to refuse anything....Im not defending brands either...Simply saying you comments mean very little to me based on the research and methods you have used in order to conduct them

As 4 effekt's response to ur question he too said TRY it for yourself.

Errrr, Is the jog wheel any good....I only use the cursor keys - C'mon mate! Think about it
