i kinda skipped a few pages but i just thought of something while reading the first few, custom manufacturing must be purchased in 60,000 from interlink, divide by 16 pads is 3,750 (16 pad replacement packages), many have said they would buy it in a heart beat, the question is would everyone put thier money where they're mouth is and pay for it in advance. of course i did not read anything about the cost for 60,ooo units which is a major factor but there are definitley more than 3,750 people out there with broken pads, I think this is an opportunity in disguise. i know nym is making a kit but i think the demand might exceed his supply of materials and time (no offense), im actually waiting to order his first anyways. i believe if we found the price sold the units in packages and had someone on this site to contribute time in making a site that can be easily maintained specifically for mpc 1000 pad orders we can sell 3,750 16 pad packages, i don't think it will be easy but i think it would be very possible. theres people who are not even members of our forum who are googling "how to fix dead pads". if interlink can give us a quote and mpc-forum member order them upfront. the director of this project wouldn't have to spend a dime. the gas to get to the post office would even be paid for. Even if the interlink pads were the same price as akai's replacement pads, i think people would buy the quality replacements with no problem knowing they would only have to perform mpc surgery once.
(with no offense to nym)
if nyms kit doesn't do the trick,i think this should be something considered.

damn i always get interested in buying an MPC 1000 as an addition to my home studio and i always decide against it when i go on here and see a thread like this. are the new black mpc's pads really better or not?

hi the pads are the same, and if you don,t want to go thruw this hell, then just buy the mpc2500 its only a very little more expensive.

if you like the portablity of the mpc1000 then go for it and live with the knowing that the pads will die.

I also read about pad fixes here, but i don,t think the project wil come from the ground anytime. such projects are always screaming the whole world together with pictures tutorials etc and when it should be finished it turned out like shit anyways.

wow, such negativity
fact is, i am finishing my mpc pads tomorrow
setting the rubber to cast overnight
and waking up on Wednesday morning with an mpc1000 pad solution.

such projects are always screaming the whole world together

do you have any comparable examples of "such projects?'
and of course, the mpc2500 is not just "a little more expensive"
it's at least several hundred more expensive, which pushes the price beyond "luxury" to "ransom money" on the already grossly inflated prices.

i think you need to do a bit more research and even take apart an mpc1000 pad for yourself before making these wild claims

I am gonna call Numark and see what the scoop is on the Pads. I know you all probably called them, but if it is going to be this difficult to repair, I am selling this unit and getting a 500, then a 2500.

Well, actually the 2500 is about a thousand dollars more!
Thats a pretty big difference to me.
To me, the 1000 is not any more portable, anywhere I can carry the 1000 I can carry the 2500.
As far as pad fixes, Antonyms makes me feel a little better, however, buying something I know is doomed makes me feel uneasy.
So, its 500 or 1000, hhmm.
NEW, cause Im not buying from ebay and rarely see them sold localy.

no i agree with you there

but i've come quite accustomed to carrying the 1000 with me...everywhere, so if i even have 15 minutes to spare i can just pull it out, sit against a wall with a socket, and make some beats. i operate under the idea that the more time you spend on the machine learning it, the better you'll be at it...so i literally spend as much time as possible on the mpc. this means taking it to class, to work, the girl's house, everywhere...it's by my side more often than it's next to my daw. i'd feel safe saying that at least 70 percent of the music i compose gets done away from my studio. so that's where i'm coming from in terms of portability - once i've had the capacity to have a sampler at my side at all times of the day, i dont think i could ever go back.

Nym, Im definately feelin you on that point, and with the 1000 Ill probably end up being the same way. This doesnt really matter cause I cant afford the 2500 anyway, Im just trying to decide between 500 and 1000.
By the way do you have a price piont set for your pads?

yeah i think it'll be between 100 and 130 depending on the package you order. i'm trying to keep it as close as possible to 108 cuz that's about how much it costs to get 16 pads from vst.

you wouldnt have to price match with VST at all because your pads wont break in a flash. im sure everyone here will pay your higher prices because of 2 reasons.

1. your fix is not going to break 3 months after purchase.

2. the more you charge the more you make, the more you make the bigger bulk you can buy in parts. then ultimately you can drop the price a little more for the consumer and still make the same amount you did in the begining.

we are all supporting you. i will gladly pay 130 for a REAL set of pads that have some balls. unlike AKAI that seems to have dropped theres somewhere a while back.
