Have just spoken to a chap at Numark (the peeps in the UK looking after Akai now) & he says it should be available through all regular outlets (digital village, turnkey etc) in the UK, towards the end of this year...

not long now...

Hi ya all,

Great to see the HDM-10 was hoping to be able to make it myself, but looks like its gonna be hard. Right at the moment im ordering my HDM-10.

But 1 question Sparq maybe, has there been research to bigger harddrives.
Like Toshiba's 40gb has been replaceed by a 80 gb one is this platter compatible or not?????

testing is being done on 60 and 80gb hard drives. although these have not yet been confirmed.

wat sort of hard drives do u need to get, can it been any internal one? and any ideas yet how much the hmd-10 will cost yet? as i wouldnt mind downsizing my pc space and wacking in one of my 40gig hdd into my new mpc which arrives on thursday! all i would need is the hdm-10 adaptor

please look at the first page of this thread. it has to be a laptop hard drive. not just anyone, though. look out for my post indicating which types we could get.

here you go. a brief list of toshiba drives:

just about any toshiba laptop format should work. you can try these MK2026GAX (20gig) MK4026GAX (40gig) MK6026GAX (60gig) MK8026GAX (80gig)

nice i got the 40 gig for free but im gonna reup for that 80 gig joint

seen em on ebay for as low as 20 bucks lol
