because it almost does some great things, and then doesnt have the processor headroom to do them, or some part breaks, or some design limitation gets in your way or some part breaks, or some part breaks or you have sync problems, or you gotta jump thru hoops to get anything done as part of a DAW setup... its effects suck, you cant automate it

back in the day you had to use an external piece of gear to get a complex sound. this thing is in a world where everything has everything and its tryin to break out of its mold and change its destiny but only gets half way there. its really ONLY a drum machine, and not a total solution. its stuck in its own past.

What about $200 for a blue one? Another question... Although the store that had this said I could bring it back for a refund within 7 days, I wonder how you check it out.. No sound, no memory card installed.. Do they have factory sounds or does it all need to be sampled? I know, I know, stupid questions.. I joined this forum because I've got an mpc 3000 on layaway and I'm going to get into these even though I'm a long-time acoustic drumset player..

PAPs input was actually helpful. The blue MPC's without pad upgrades over $350 is too much. The old style pads are gonna fail, if they have not already. And a new Pad upgrade is waht $180-200....

To the OP, if you are happy with what you spent your $400 on, then it does npt really matter. Have fun with it, and make some hit music.


$200 for a used unit that actually worx is a good bargain. for another $300 you can have that unit pretty much maxed out...

I'd buy a used 1000 for $200
