What do you see in store for the 1000 in the future?

Being able to lay out a key map like that would be great. Akai should really consider it. I'm sure their other samplers do that.

(Now I'm stuck between an esx1 an mpc1000 or Ableton's Live. I'm thinking Live now. I have a Machinedrum now so I don't really need the drums.)

Improvements:

Be able to load multiple formats i.e. Rex Files, AIFF files
24bit 44.8
all the seq and sample edit functions as the 2000xl - the second seq feature the xl uses would be nice as well
A filter that wasn't note on
sending effects out alternate outs 1-4
add the delay effect

other those those improvements - the sh**'s tip top!!!

For real..

Loading up Rex files would be nice.. i have thousands of drum breaks that i converted to rex when i used reason.. now i wish i left em all as wav :-/ lol

For the future? hmmmmm? A garbage can sounds like a good place for it!

That's harsh! What don't you like about it?

ok, so that was a little harsh. I love the USB connection and the layout is very very simple to use but, I think I got a buggy one.

I've had a few issues with sample clicks at the end of my samples (I played with the decay and it made a difference on most samples but if I listen closely it's still slightly audible .)

Also my latest issue is, I'm experiencing a problem when playing back a sequence. I intermittently hear clicks, crackels and pops during playback (not related to nasty audio cables, console, studio monitors, amp..etc). ...still trying to figure this one out.

I'm sure someone here can help you with that. Just ask around or do a search!

Sample snap crackle pops are usually due to your samples either being recorded off of a dirty record, the sample rate is wrong or just poor samples - make sure your samples are all @ 16bit 44.1 - they're recorded from a clean source and are clean samples -

nah..that ain't it, I've been sampling for the last 10 years I know this is not related to dirty samples.... but I apprieciate the feedback still the same!

The samples play back clean when triggering them manually, just crackin during sequence playback. I've sent Akai support an email about this...just waiting for their advise.

I found it...by default the Loop feature is set to 'ON' when loading new samples. Turn off the loop for each sample and problem resolved!

Even though I tap out a beat manually with these same samples without clicks, it's not until I play a sequence that the clicks and pops occur.....

Ok I would like to retract my orginal statement about the MPC1000 going to the garbage can.

I can see a zip drive connection or some other port to save data. I say this because when you open up the mpc 1k there's a slot for such an object in the front. That would be nice.

You probably already checked this, but could this be digital clipping due to the sum of all the samples playing at once being too high? If you solo a sample within the sequence, do the clicks and pops disappear?

Since the MPC is a bit trimmed down and manufactured in the computer age, one thing I really want to see for the 1k is an official program/track/sequence editor for PC/Mac. Not edit in the MPC itself, but to create or work on files/directorys that you have on card/hard disk.

You'd be able to drag wav files in there, assign them to programs, set levels/outputs/mixer/effects/etc over whole programs, assign programs to tracks, maybe import midi files to tracks. Rename everything. Advanced options could be for example Recycle file import with automatic program and track creation.

Save. Open. Play.

I'd love to be able to preview a sample before loading it - if I'm not mistaken, this isn't yet possible.

yeah this is possible man.. go to mode -> load -> pick ya sample -> press F2 to play before pressing Discard or Keep...
