Mpc beat to PC

Been trying to accomplish the same thing for a while now. I think I got everything set up right...

MPC RECORD OUT (L+R) > INTERFACE RECORD IN (L+R) then INTERFACE USB > PC

I'm using Ableton so in Preferences > Audio I have the driver type selected as ASIO and audio device ASIO4ALL v2. It shows me the sample rate, buffer size, latency, etc. so I know the interface is communicating with Ableton.

MIDI is synched since when I press Play on the MPC, Ableton follows.

What I can't figure out is why nothing is recorded when I press the Record button in Ableton and Play on MPC.

Can anyone clue me in on what I might be missing here? I gotta return the interface to a friend tonight. Would be nice if I could at least get it to work for next time.

so if your ram is maxxed out just have your song or sequence ready, then go to record mode and set it to record the main outs.. now press play and it should record itself as its playing. after your done just save the wav file and transfer it to your pc via usb.. this is how i do it now. my interface has been collecting dust ever since!

hey cheers for that man! one step closer .. this might sound a lil dumb but when its recorded its says keep or retry? i press keep as 'sample01' but where does it go, i cant find it? ive tried assigning to a pad but, eh? lol..

when you record it does it show nothing being recorded then it shows notes on the recording but it doesnt playback? if so, im having the same trouble with the midi side of things too man! sorry i couldnt help at all :/ all the best

Go on to the save screen, then save a sample, and scroll through till you find whatever u named that recording as and press save

You can also track out using the 'mpc recording itself technique'

go into step edit mode , then 'insert a note' and put like a hi hat or something at the begining of each sequence youll be tracking out. Then when you put all the tracks into your DAW, use the hi hat at the begining to line up all the tracks then just delete it.

I never use the interface for anything now. it added hiss and my sequences lacked the 'punch' they orginally had on the mpc. When the mpc records itself you get a purrfect wav copy of what your sequences sound like.

one last thing, i think i forgot to mention before anything .. hit the mode + other button and in that screen set the mpc to 0db

Still haven't figured out how to record out my sequences from the MPC to Reason (these are sequences I recorded using Reason instruments).

What I have figured out is how to get sound output to work with both Reason and the MPC at the same time...hook it up to the same speakers! Duh haha can't believe I didn't think of that.

Anyway having a great time jamming out using Reason instruments but now I gotta figure out how to actually record it into Reason and export as .wav. I realize that MIDI doesn't transfer sound so there is no way to do this from the MPC since it is not receiving any sound from Reason.

Sorry but I have NO clue what you're trying to say there. Here's the rundown tho:

After successfully syncing the MPC with Reason and recording tracks/sequences with the MPC using Reason instruments, I want to then record-out this progress into Reason and export as .wav but when I hit the record button in Reason nothing happens.

How would one do this when they are recording Reason instruments into the MPC (sorry I don't know the technical phrase for this) since only MIDI and not audio data is being transferred? There is nothing to record from the MPC in this case since all the sounds are in Reason...

Ok i dont use reason but i think i know what youre asking about. sounds like you were jamming along to the mpc in reason using a vst i assume?

First record the vst track in reason. pay attention to the time sig and bpm and how many bars long your 'vst jamming' was as this info will come in handy to make a nice loop on the mpc later..


Now you can do one of two things.. either mix down the 'vst jam' to a wav and transfer to the mpc via usb OR hook up your computers audio out to the mpcs line in and record it. then assign it to a pad and you should be in business.
