The sample length only correlates to the PPQN when the tempo is fixed exactly e.g. 384 pulses = a whole note = 2.00 seconds at 120BPM, or 1.5 seconds at 160BPM.
so, if you have a note dropping problem, does it still happen when you change the MPC's tempo, say slow it down dramatically? If so, then the sample length is a factor, if I'm reading it right...
