Anyone synced up a MPC with Live yet !!

yeah i have .....it works from play start but not if u wanna play from further on in the track, Live makes the mpc jump back 2 bars out of sync..really weird that!

Comparing a computer software sequencer/VST/DAW/etc with a hardware sampler/sequencer with pads is just plain weird, if you ask me.

Not everyone is going to wanna sit in front of a computer and make beats with virtual knobs and algorithms.

whether cubase, live 4 or reason i never touch the computer once the application is open.

what is the differents triggering a sample from mpc -vs- mpd16? what is the differents using the knobs on a hardware sequencer/sampler -vs- the knobs on a m-audio pro 88? after programming the m-audio pro 88 it is just like operating hardware.

i do not know or think that live5 will be a mpc killer or not, but it is a very powerful app.

It's the programming that kills most mofos me thinks.

the programming is really easy and intuitive...ableton is more like an actual instrument than logic, cubase, etc.

dunno...most people who try it are hooked pretty quickly, myself included.

"It's the programming that kills most mofos me thinks."

Like 'sans soleil' says: The reason why so many people are flocking to Live is because its a DAW but with all the programming taken out..

Yes, I absolutely love Live 4! It's what we use, together with Reason, for our main composing.

But I still think the comparison falters.

On a software package, you have endless possibilities with VST:s etc, a big screen, mouse and keyboard. You also have lags, crashes, distractions and other things.

On a hardware box such as the MPC, you are limited (limitations are often good), small screen, buttons and pads. No distractions, almost no crashes. Som people say you compose more with your ears on the MPC, as you don't have all that visual stuff to take in with your eyes. "Does that note sound right there" as opposed to "Does that note look right there?"

I'm not saying one is better than the other. I love 'em both, but for different reasons.

I'm saying that saying that Live 5 is an "MPC Killer" is weird. If someone chucks the MPC in favour of a computer with audio interface and Live 5, they didn't have their priorities set when they bought the MPC!

I've been lurking on this board for quite some time, and unfortunately it seems a lot of people are getting the MPC because "it's the box to make hip hop with". As my boy says - "That's just so, so sad."...
