I always say this, but COMPRESS, and add effects before you load your samples into your MPC. The reason I say this is, yes it (the 1k compressor) "sucks balls"

"he compressor is not good for drums because the attack time is too short.
When i compress my kicks and snares i don't want to compress the first part of the sound,"

I am a little confused. If you do not want to compress the start of the sample then would not a slower compressor not interfere with this? I mean, I would understand it if you said, "the compressor is too fast and it squashes to beginning of the sample", but I do understand, "the compressor is too slow and I do not like to squash the beginning".

it made sense to me...

short attack time, means it's too fast.
too fast squashes the beginning of sound.

he doesn't like that...

what's not to get?

ok, some numbers to make it clear.

When you set the attack on the mpc1000 to it's maximum (99) you get an attack time of 3 milliseconds.

For those Norman Cook style kicks and snares you'll need an attack time around 30 ms, so that's not possible on the mpc.

The maximum attack time on my Behringer compressor is 200 ms.
