Yo Sparq...once again a great vid. Just one question: I want a on the run production center consisted of a laptop....mk1...oxegen 8 and reason.

How would I hook that all together. I know the oxygen 8 has 2 midi outs and that would be my main midi interface because it sync's with reason through USB.

I'm speaking of connecting the actually midi wires.....I saw how the rest works on the video.

If any one else can help.......... Thanks in advance.

For those who don't understand how the MIDI connections are set up...

Go from your Oxygen8 (or whatever MIDI controller you have) and connect the MIDI OUT to the MPC's MIDI IN. Then go from the MPC's MIDI OUT to the MIDI IN on the MIDI interface you have connected to your computer.

I want to just use my oxygen 8 as the midi interface/ midi trigger if possible.

I was asking if connecting the m1k , reason and my laptop is possible with just the oxygen 8. I don't have a midi interface because I use hardware (example)m1k triton and motif simple connect.....midi A in-out to Motif and midi B in-out to triton.

I was thinking mabe this connection: Midi out of the oxygen8 to midi in on the m1k. Then usb from the oxygen 8 to the comp/reason. If thats wrong let me know. My copy of reason has not yet arrived so I cant test it yet.

Please let me know if I'm wrong here.

thank you
i have the midi cable going to the mpc. on the back of the oxygen 8 keyboard, you have your usb cable, and two midi out ports. one is the "keyboard" midi out (which i have connected to the "midi in" on my mpc and you have "USB" midi out. (don't know what's that's for, never needed to use it)

unfortunately, you will need more than just the oxygen 8. b4 i got my audio/midi interface, i tried to connect just the oxygen to no avail. i needed a true midi/audio interface. the one that i am using is the Lexicon omega. it's usb and totally portable. but if you want something different, you can go with something like this: http://www.samedaymusic.com/product--EMU1616 this particular one is a little pricey but considering all that it has, it's worth the money. my lexicon only cost $250

OK Good video. But, here's the weird thing.

I got my MPC to trigger the sound on reason with the pads when I set the Midi to the channel on the device it's assigned to and plays different sounds when i change the Midi channel on the mpc.

But, the weird thing is...when I change the midi channel on the mpc....it plays the assigned device but on my midi controller it only plays the sound on Channel 1. What am I doing wrong?

tell me where do you have your midi cables?

ok, across the bottom of the mpc....
type: midi pgm: off midi: (whatever channel you have to match reason)

in reason,

make sure you have midi bus set to A
then if you want to control the nn19, make sure you have channel 1 set to nn19 and the mpc midi set to 1A

oh, if you get the m-box 2, then yes that is perfect. but when you go to track into PT, you will only be able to do it 2 tracks at a time. and when you get it, let me know, i can show you another trick using reason and the mpc.

Yeah Sparq, eplain your midi routing in detail. for example,
I have S50 --> Mpc --> Vstack. I have my midi outs daisy chained. I have a second computer set up to record the mpc and vstack. My only problem with this setup of mine is I can't load drum sounds into my sampler program and play the s50 or they sound delayed.

i have two midi interfaces. i have a lexicon omega (audio/midi)interface and a m-audio midisport UNO midi interface. i have the mpc's midi in 1 going to the oxygen 8's keyboard midi out and the mpc's midi out A going to the Lexicon's midi in. i have the mpc's midi in 2 going to the UNO's midi out and the mpc's midi out B going to the UNO's midi in.

the reason why i have two midi interfaces is because 1 of them is for reason and the other is for Nuendo. i have the mpc as the master of reason and nuendo is the master of the mpc.

similar question to wats been asked. okay i also have an oxygen 8, the need for the usb is to power the keyboard via the pc (otherwise u would need a separate power supply). not a big porblem s i could always get a power supply, but wat i was wondering was if u could hav the usb O8 connected to ur pc operating say logic 5 (imagine i want to use the synths in logic 5 with my keyboard and record the data into the mpc to sequence). would i still be able to do this via the setup mentioned, that being midi out from mpc into midi in to pc and midi out of oxygen 8 keyboard into the midi in of the mpc, with the keyboard powered by the usb connection from keyboard to pc? hope that makes sense. i'v e tried it, but not quite sure how to set this up within the mpc, wat else would i need to do if that was possible?
