dead pad taken apart...

stop buying replacement pads and just midi up either an mpd 16 or a trigger finger........for the people that do use the mpd..how's the response on it when you midi it up? my trigger finger pads are the only ones i use on the 1000 now and the response is so much better.

the mpd16 feels good, but only having 2 banks is lame. the trigger finger looks like the better value, but i found my mpd16 used and for a decent price.


hey v00d00ppl, can you use the 16 level tuning feature with the trigger finger?

on the mpd16, 16 levels only worked with velocity (not tuning). but then again i've only had it for a couple days so i might be wrong.

i actually returned my 1000 twice to switch it with a different new one cause certain pads felt almost dead RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX.

i've given up on the 1000 pads.
it just sucks that other functions are attached to certain pads (and cant be triggered by an external controller like the mpd16 or triggerfinger). so when your save pad dies you still gotta buy a replacement...

true...i wasn't on intending to buy replacement pads either, but at 16 dollars a dead pad plus shipping, so let's say 20 bucks after taxes and shipping a pad.........we got 16 pads on this machine. 16x20=320 bucks..that is expensive.......what if we bought a midi controller with much more durable pads and it only costs half that price?

sometimes i wish i had bought something like a used XL for that price.......and i would have thrown on the mcd expansion and bam, i'd be a happy camper.......

since i learned sequencing my beats on the 1000 though..i don't know if i can give up on it yet...........whats the learning curve when it comes to learning the mpc3000.........i cant stop thinking about it for some reason....

OK this is kinda worrying! There aren't any places local to me to buy an MPC from so i would have to get it off the net.

Think this might be the final thing that sways me towards the 2500 as i dont wanna be paying p+p to get it sorted. These things should be built to last.

i got 3 fuk'd pads too... makes me hate AkaiPro...
i'm tempted to just buy a new pad bank and sell my unit on ebay..
then buy a 2.5k

Ok, this is kind of bizarre; I take it people that have had no issues with their pads have not really posted on this thread.

I bought my 1K from a British dealer, new. I've used it consistantly over the last 6-months or so and all has been sweet - the whole thing works as is.

These negative reports suck, no doubt, I just can't relate in this respect.

imagine 3 pads.. sensetivity set max.. but you still have to tap them much much harder to get them to work..

my 6 month honeymoon with the 1k was sweet too.. but just out of warranty and my 1k is lookin' ugly...

i love everything about the 1k except the pads.. but they are central to an mpc

yea, the trigger finger has the ability to have 16 different banks.......the 16 levels also works only on velocity too with the trigger finger....how does 16 levels work with tuning?

yea, the only gripe i have with it is that there should be an ability to use the trigger finger/mpd-16 to access the menus when you hit mode....i'll look into it and mess around with the programming on the trigger finger through my enigma software........


my theory is that there is like a safe boot up menu that shows additional midi commands when you hit mode and a pad.......i think a way to determine this is by logging in what happens through whatever midi sequencer you use and it could show the notation. then you can use enigma to plug in those midi vales in another bank of the trigger finger. even though you have the mpd-16.....values are values and i'll show you my finds.

All this talk of MPD16s and Trigger Fingers is rediculous. There should be absolutely no reason for you buying an MPC then having to buy a midi pad instrument to use instead because the 1k's have broken down...
