Antonym wrote:or all of those who use my drum pgms - you will often find that the best kits according to your songs are found from multiple pgms. ie, in your kick/snare track, you may use "impeachprez" pgm and for your hat track you might use "nym got some"

this is very frustrating as you may clutter up your mpc with too many programs. this is a problem i often had in the old os. SO here's what you can do to eliminate this:

consolidate using the pad parameter copy that is new to os 2. use as many drum pgms as you want - and then make 1 more pgm called DRUMS and copy the used pads onto the DRUMS pgm in the exact same placement.

then, go back to all your drum tracks and swith the pgm to DRUMS.

done - now delete the pgms of mine you are no longer using and don't forget to purge!!

how cool is that?

I'm not quite sure I'm follow'n you on this. Can you maybe rephrase that for me. I need to & want to consolodate some kits.
I appreciate the help, Thanks! :?

I just want to make this clear since I see so many people still complaining.

The 2.0 OS will only make your work flow faster. It will not make your beats better. Anything that can be done on the mpc can be done outside of the mpc. If you install the 2.0 OS it will reset some of your settings so remember to double check.

I love the 2.0 OS and couldnt ask for anything more. To ask for more would be to ask akai to make your beats for you.

Thanks sparq for the heads up and all the help and time you've put into helping us.

Thanks to akai.

No complaints here! My *ish is still Whak!!
Nah, J/K. I'm just trying to implement all the thing the Lil Blue Box has to offer now. It has definitely changed the work flow a bit.
No Complaints @ All.

Like I said two months ago Sparq would have his day in the sunshine. Divide regions is the shit for me since I can chop a note even further. Its very useful when working on even a 8bar loops for loop based production with a 64 slice settings.

just curious, blue haze, how do you make use of such small regions?? I cant think of why I would like to chop one beat (or a kick or snare hit) even further.. there's no attack in the successive slices, so I dont see the use, but maybe youre doing some crazy chopping and I'd really appreciate if you'd let me in on that :D

I use it for chopping phrases and melodies in order to play my own melodies. Much better than just using a loop. Plus you can better define a 8, half or whole note from the phrase. For drums yes you can chop out more percussive hits bongos, shakers and etc.

I see, I wasnt thinking of melodic phrases..
thanks for the clarification

Just wanted to say that os 2 is an added plus to an already dope machine for the price. I noticed that the joy thread is a lot less busier than the pains thread which confirms my suspicion that most people up hear just like to complain. I dont think a lot of you cats understand how many classic productions were made with far less than what you have sitting in front of you. If your reading this thread that means you have a computer which means you have the ability to download megabytes no gigs of sound for free without leaving the comfort of your home and then transfer them into you worhless MPC 1000. The so called golden era of Hip Hop was form about 87' to 92' or 93' those producers couldn't jump on line and swap advise and sounds but they still banged out some hot s***. They were able to do what they did basically with a horse and buggy and now you have a spaceship, some George Jetson technoligy and all i hear is complaints. I even hear you complaining about a lot of the music thats out there but while your complaining about what your equipment cant do -music that you dont like is being made and released by people who are not busy complaining - they are making due with what they have. Somebody up hear said something very true- AKAI CANT MAKE BEATS FOR YOU. You either got it in you or you dont. If you got a turntable and a 1000 then you have more than Pete Rock did when he landed his deal.

I hear ya player but maybe this would have been better in the complaints section and very more two weeks ago when the crackheads were feenin for O.S 2. before the release this I believe was a joy thread not a killjoy. 8)

They would have love ya then. ha, ha, ha, now everybodies oh, oh, oh I love, love, love you Akaii. Kill me with the crack boy. Till they start feenin again.

Then again alot users now probably were 5 or 8 at the time of 91 and 92 and wouldn`t have any idea what you are talking about. Tribe who? Who the hell is C.L. Smooth and this Pete somethun Guy? Are they guys before or after Doom?

:P

", it doesn't load .ALL files."

It would fairly trivial to write an offline ALL file parser. I may have already.

It not only loads MPC2k SND files but also MPC3k SND files. That's nice.

I also like the fact that you can place MSB and LSB values in with the track Prog: values instead of embedding them in the Step Edit screen.

Yeah i guess your right- I think maybe i sarted to vent a little but let me make it clear - I think the MPC 1000 os 2 is a great upgrade im willin to work around the downsides of it for the benefits of its up side.
