So I have to jam the MPC on standalone mode wich lets me work with the limited editing function in the MPCok, so try this... take your sample that you want the silence on and put it in a seq by itself, have it looped for twice as long as the length of the original sample then go into the mixer (or q-link) and record the beginning then have the level go down for about 1/2 second. once you have that done, resample it and then bring it into trim mode and trim off the beginning and the end and now you have your silence at beginning of the sample so you can layer it.
i know this sounds like a lot but once you do it, it's alot less time than it sounds.
